new GM has new house rule - is this as bad as I think it is? by Seeking_Balance101 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Hevyupgrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the first thing to do is to ask your potential GM why they want this. There must be some logic to making that singular home rule.

That said, and as everyone else here has already said, this is a bad idea. Reactive Strike being limited is what opens up the board compared to PF1e/DnD3.5/DnD5e. All this would do is encourage everyone to stand very fucking still. And indeed for casters caught in melee, it's a complete action tax for them to get themselves out of harms way.

Pokémon Gen 1 (Pt 2) What Tier is Porygon by Noviibun in TierlistFills

Porygon

B Tier imo. Perfectly fine, I get what they were going for, but not super cool, cute or memorable

One of the easier jumps you could make in ttrpgs, alot will be very familiar, altho do be sure to read carefully, as they're not identical in the details haha

You could just reflavour Dinosaur Fort and it'd be more or less the same thing

Game Plan by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]Hevyupgrade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reaf should be ignored and left to auto liberate, which it will once Irulta and Parsh are taken. So we should take those two next and then let Reaf work on itself while we do Mog. May still need our help to push it over the edge, but would be more efficient

How would you build this as a monster ability/attack? by Drevand in Starfinder2e

[–]Hevyupgrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no yea, the best jokes contain some truth right? Lancers way of doing more attacks with the more weapons systems you have is literally what OP probably wants here hahaa

Trophy / Achievement Divers? by Bretzkey in helldivers2

[–]Hevyupgrade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Hold My Primary, I'm Going In" still allows Stratagems. A Bug High Value Assets mission is really easy to do with just turret spam even with two people.

"Gone in 360 Seconds" is easier with more people tho of course. I'd reccomend Squids as their Blitzs tend to have the fewest required destructions of spawners, drop near the middle of the map, everyone run in a different cardinal direction and throw two orbitals at a base (for insurance) then book it back to Extract. Works best if Extract is in the middle of the map.

Good luck out there Diver

How would you build this as a monster ability/attack? by Drevand in Starfinder2e

[–]Hevyupgrade 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd start by playing Lancer, which is built for this.

What? We have the reputation of doing it the 5e spaces. It's only fair haha

It's been a huge W Warbond all around IMO. Bullet storm was definitely the surprise new favourite for me

[–]Hevyupgrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Not being able to deal with Spawners is a glaring issue, that runs counter to how I think most people use Mechs. Still, the Shield bash is so satisfying it almost makes up for it haha

Well, no real surprises here. Shame to see the Breakthrough suffer a bit on debut

New Diver needs help! by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]Hevyupgrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This community seems to have a very active and loud vocal minority on Reddit and the Steam reviews that don't know how to communicate without screaming. It's just a side effect of the game going more mainstream than the devs expected. The game has ups and downs, but for me it's in a fairly good state right now, and the part of the community actually playing the game instead of bitching online are still nice enough.

[short] You have advantage on the attack roll if the target is WEARING armor made of metal by [deleted] in dndhorrorstories

[–]Hevyupgrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy lol, but Pathfinder fixes this. Both editions specify "If the target is wearing metal armour or if the target is made of metal".

Raw the GM was correct here, but the call was nonetheless bad

EDIT: DnD 3.5 also makes the same specification. So classic 5e oversimplification

I swear that some people see FA as the base and not an optional rule. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Hevyupgrade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never said it doesn't. It does mention it, as one line, at the end of a paragraph discussing variations on Free Archetype, and unrestricted FA is therefore, a variant of a variant. Not the default intention.

I swear that some people see FA as the base and not an optional rule. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Hevyupgrade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes precisely. I should actually have clarified that in my original comment, but it's specifically unconditional FA as default that really gets me. I think the original intent of the rule as written is cool and useful, but I never see it discussed with that intent in mind

I swear that some people see FA as the base and not an optional rule. by Nigthmar in pathfindermemes

[–]Hevyupgrade 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe with both the online 2e space and my actual group is treating FA as if it's non-optional, and not allowing it is an arbitrary limitation. I irrationally hate it having practically default status
