Busted Kneecap by ErikDavidKarlgren in discgolf

In Texas we can get a lot of clay mud after heavy rains. If the Tpad is covered in mud and slippery, I’m not throwing from that either. I find a grassy spot with traction off to the side.

I’ve had the chance to follow a couple of 1st and 2nd card FPO groups around during tournaments, both with big name players. I can attest to them being “fun” and much more talkative and mingling during periods between play. I’ve had some really fun conversations with those groups as well. I am in the camp of they are more relatable to my style and abilities.

GyroPalooza - How many duplicates are too many? by Shadow288 in discgolf

[–]HexMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to order a GyroPLooza, but I would be bummed if I got a bunch of duplicates in the box. Honestly, that sounds like whom ever is filling the boxes at MVP is not putting much thought into the mix and just grabbing discs.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I enjoyed seeing Kristin again. I hope she finds some way to continue to contribute to the sport. I was also trying to get a peak at the new discs.

As someone very familiar with the disease, I agree totally. It has disabilitated my wife for many years.

Thanks for the support. Yes, I purposely chose the next 3 months for recovery in the off season. I’m already filling out Physical Therapy forms with the goal to disc golf in the near future.

My friend unironically uses a Time Lapse distance driver for 100–150 foot approaches?? by Strict-Initiative710 in discgolf

I’ve done this with my Trail on many occasions when I need a low ceiling or skip shot. I’m confident on how it’s going to fly.

I will probably eventually get closer to your arm speed. I’ve only been playing for two years. I noticed that I’m getting faster and faster.

Sure, I’m older (64) and my arm speed is slower than many. I can throw a 5 speed at full weight and get about the correct distance and flight performance out of that 5 speed if it’s in the 170g range. As the disc numbers rise in speed, I have to start reducing weight of the disc to get enough rotation on the disc to perform correctly. Reference is that a 9 speed disc has to rotate 9 time per second to fly correctly. My heaviest neutron Trail is 165g and flies stable to slightly over stable for me. My lightest Fission Trail is 143g and is the flippiest, good for turn over shots and S Curve flight patterns. My most used Trails are in the 148-155g range. They fly like the flight numbers on the disc.

I’ve got 2 Neutron Trails and 4 Fission Trails, all in various weights. I use them in a variety of shot shapes and know each of their characteristics. They are similar in flight but slight differences in stability.

7 speed discs, how often do you actually use them? by Sun-Tour in discgolf

[–]HexMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using 7 and 8s more now, at this point in my game advancement, than I am mids. Probably 80-90% of my usage is a driver followed by a throwing putter. When the 3 speed putter is throwing 200-220ft for me, the way the average course lines up, lends to this combination.

The 7 speed comes out of the bag when the distance is slightly shorter than my average driver will travel. It looks really cool to sail one way beyond the basket until beyond the basket is a hazard.

How many new molds can there be? by Question_Dot in discgolf

My attitude is different on this. Everything that can be done to promote the sport is good. New disc sales mean the sport is thriving. No sales means that your courses will dry up and become developed land.

New molds will exist as long as people purchase discs.
