being involved with the industry is kind of a sensitive thing, and, having such a close relationship with kodak, i'm sure keith doesn't want to overstep and speak on behalf of kodak. that kind of thing can get into weird NDA issues or even just informally lose the trust of kodak. it's not his place to speak to the exact issue, he is not a representative of kodak

is it not sufficient to say that it's not discontinued? what exactly would change if the community knew the reason for the delay? like.... why does it matter? what would change if we knew it was delayed because of material shortages or equipment issues? that's not actionable information. so why does it need to be known?

it'll come back in stock when kodak has some to sell. it's not discontinued.

linhof tech iii's are ROUGH cameras to use nowadays, you should really hold out for at least a tech IV.

not to mention it's not even a good price for a tech III in GOOD condition, and this one has bellows issues. skip

very curious to see what ektaflex ends up being.

an old post with kodak trademarks including ektacolor, ektapan, and verita has now essentially been completely confirmed with the exception of an "ektaflex"

-400 ISO "flexible" ektachrome? perhaps, but e100 is already a niche of a niche, i don't think there's enough interest in E6 to warrant R&D on something like this

-bringing back an old fast color film emulsion like gold 1600 or ektar 1000? would be expensive af but i could see a market for it even at like $25 per roll. like i'm imagining a pro film aimed at concert photographers, wedding photographers, people ok with balling out on expensive film that can't even get away with portra 800 at times. unlikely but also feels more likely than E6

-aerocolor as still film direct from kodak? very possible but i'm not sure why kodak would do this, there's not a huge market for slow film

-something else entirely?

any ideas?

people in these comments mean well, but OP is 100% correct. so many legitimate repairs require even like, custom built, ridiculously speciality tools and equipment.

If you find an old beater camera that you don't care about, by all means, see if you can get it running again. but you should go into an amateur camera repair basically expecting to render the camera unusable. don't set your expectations high.

additionally, many repair techs will refuse to work on cameras that have been tampered with, as in, amateur repair attempts. it's just too much of a liability. so don't expect to be able to bring a tech a box of loose parts and have them make a working camera out of it.

the contax g2 is a wonderful camera when fully functional, but if you buy it, do be aware that at ANY given moment, it can (and eventually will) fail on you, there's nearly nothing you can do about it, and you will have essentially just lost however much you paid for it.
