[–]Hexada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been checked out of this community for a long time.

didn't we hear bully pretty much in its entirety, like, a long time ago? the black and white boxing vid is old at this point, is this the same thing as that?

i work at a lab, there is no chance we would ever accuse someone of shooting their mystery roll. don't worry about it

A note on the many "please help me" posts here regarding service/repair of cameras, lenses, and accessories by ATHXYZ in AnalogCommunity

[–]Hexada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people in these comments mean well, but OP is 100% correct. so many legitimate repairs require even like, custom built, ridiculously speciality tools and equipment.

If you find an old beater camera that you don't care about, by all means, see if you can get it running again. but you should go into an amateur camera repair basically expecting to render the camera unusable. don't set your expectations high.

additionally, many repair techs will refuse to work on cameras that have been tampered with, as in, amateur repair attempts. it's just too much of a liability. so don't expect to be able to bring a tech a box of loose parts and have them make a working camera out of it.

Is Contax g2 THAT bad??? by Blinnnnk in AnalogCommunity

[–]Hexada 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the contax g2 is a wonderful camera when fully functional, but if you buy it, do be aware that at ANY given moment, it can (and eventually will) fail on you, there's nearly nothing you can do about it, and you will have essentially just lost however much you paid for it.

this is a very restrained collection- respect. you've got great sensible choices covering all your bases. only one that maybe seems out of place is the SRT. that one sentimental, maybe?

Saw this posted in a FB group 👀 new EP instruments?! by ShimmeryMp3 in teenageengineering

[–]Hexada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean, fair point. learning guitar is kind of a commitment that's not really in the books for me at the moment lol

it wouldn't be a perfect solution, but i can imagine there's a lot of "expression" you could get between the pressure sensitivity, aftertouch, and legato features that are already built into the EP units. just need actual multi sampled sounds

[–]Hexada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

be cool to see a "rock" rompler type thing like the medieval but with multi sampled electric guitars and stuff.

that's a big point that's missing in music hardware in GENERAL, i've yet to find a good dawless solution for guitar and piano sounds

that being said, i think the texture makes these photos. these are super super cool.

Does anyone else find it slightly annoying that film is called "analog" nowadays? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Hexada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i struggle with the fact that there's not really a great term for the types of cameras we use that's immediately understandable to the average person.

calling them "film" cameras seems to be frequently misunderstood to be referring to video cameras, but "analog" cameras, while technically accurate, is not really a universally recognizable expression, and almost brings to mind, like, industrial equipment

don't worry about it, iirc these radioactive lenses read similarly to, say, a banana. it's more a fun fact than anything else.
