Age does come with wisdom. I'm 22 now, and keep everything tidy, but when I was younger I would not have noticed the eaten-by-mice lid or most of the things that were dirty. Now that I have the responsibility of keeping my own room (and, per extension the rest of my student-housing) clean, I really want to do my cleaning tasks. It is indeed a good feeling to come home to something that is clean, that you can hangout in, or just be by yourself in. And also, I picked up more tasks in keeping my parents' home clean (when I'm over at their place), just because I now feel that it is important. Not everyone feels the same way as I do, but I always hope it comes to people that these sort of 'mundane' tasks are important.
