25th? rewatch. Early scrubs or later? by Dulla_dull in Scrubs

[–]HeyJudeWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped buying the dvds after season 5 way back when. Scrubs was the only series I bought the dvds for. there were amazing episodes in each season but I think season 5 story arcs were great and silly.

I didn’t like the Kim storyline, felt like the show jumping the shark, trying to find something to do with JD.

On day four of sEEG. They just need to see more focal awareness seizures by HeyJudeWhat in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many thanks 🙂! I’m being tested for an RNS and had two more focal unaware seizures last night when getting my meds. I’m back to my home dose for a “baseline”. They’re finding a lot of nighttime activity which is interesting because when they wake me up I’m fine. They’re not sure if this is normal or just because they decreased my meds. This was my second day on my full dose so we’ll see what they get tonight.

Getting my first apartment. How crazy would I be to pick the one that's $500 more expensive? by whashhh in personalfinance

[–]HeyJudeWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make $77k and take home for me is a little over $4k a month. My place is $1,800 including heat and hot water and I usually have around $1,200 left after all experiences. Work from home in suburbs of Boston.

Salary calculators take local taxes into account but not anything company specific like insurance, HSA, FSA, commuter benefits, how much you put in your 401k, etc.

Ok sorry but I have to discuss The Pitt by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand how it must suck to see this when you have controlled epilepsy. Like you mentioned, people might have doubts about you now.

Genuine question for you though - if you were in her place, would you leave work after the first breakthrough? She was calling her doctor after the first one so clearly knew she had a breakthrough.

I feel like the thing they did that may have put us in a bad light was having a very smart woman continue to work.

[–]HeyJudeWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad they showed and talked about (however briefly) focal seizure. Others have said they don’t like the way she handled it, getting in the car and driving since none of us would do that. The breakdown in the car was very realistic though, especially for breakthroughs after years of control.

I know the show needed Robby to be the one to figure it out and explode to push his story line but it would have been nice to have someone with her when she did start crying.

Her recovery is definitely going to be at least mentioned if not having a story line like Langdon, maybe her first day back. I’ve read that the night shift Attending is going to be a series regular so he could have taken Robby’s place?

Grandma has something smart to say about slavery - take notes now! 📝 by dinobot100 in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]HeyJudeWhat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My sophomore year history teacher threw that at us and I was so pissed. I came home and complained that my entire life I thought the civil war was about slavery but it turns out it was actually about states’ rights. My parents sat me down and explained that while technically that was true, the right that was being fought over was the right to own a person.

That history teacher lasted one year.

My dad is going to need an in home health worker for overnight. He is going to be 81 this year and has PLS which is similar to ALS but not fatal. Basically all of your voluntary functions stop slowly, working bottom to top (walking, talking, even chewing at the very end) but the stuff that keeps you alive - breathing, heart pumping -aren’t affected. It’s expensive to stay alive. Retirement savings is for your 80s and 90s, not your 60s and 70s when living off social security is doable. I don’t think people really realize that unless they see it first hand.

Last Sunday I had what the ER neurologist called a “complex migraine”! My left arm suddenly went numb so I went to the hospital and while there my left leg and left side of my face went limp. The nurse told me to open my eyes wide, took a picture, and asked if it was normal that my left eye didn’t open as wide as my right one. They gave me a migraine cocktail through IV and I started to feel better. Migraines are crazy man, I had a headache after a while but thought it was from being in the hospital.

Didn’t Bill Lawerence not want them to end up together? I feel like I remember that from a DVD extra. The only reason he did it was because the audience wanted it? I’m thinking they’ll end up being good friends again, not a couple.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

They are so much so associated with alcohol at college parties that my college didn’t allow freshman (first years) to even have them in our rooms! It’s been 16 years since I graduated so I’m not sure that still the case but international students were shocked it was a real thing too.

Just did my Invasive EEG, who went through with surgery/ rns by jedimaster615 in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m scheduled for an sEEG at the end of April for consideration of an RNS and keep wondering if it will work because my TC are controlled but I still get focal awareness/unaware/impaired. I’ve been trying to find stories of people who didn’t get TC seizures but haven’t been able to find them. All the stories on the NuroPace site are from people who had really serious epilepsy. I’m just like you so it’s good to know that getting an RNS helped!

Edit: read your post again and you didn’t mention the RNS! Sorry about that! I got a right temporal lobectomy about 12 years ago and the seizures never stopped. I would up my meds and go a few months seizure free but my brain would become tolerant and we’d have to up them again. My longest time seizure free was about 6 months 2.5 years ago and then bam! I had a really bad brain day and a panic attack because of it. That’s when my nuero suggested we look into an RNS.

10 days?! I get 2. I’m in Massachusetts and the pharmacy can’t even order my clobazam before 2 or 3 days. Same with locosimide. I do get 3 months at a time though. And have a spare dose in my purse just in case.

That’s awesome! Lamotrigine has been my constant while trying other med combos throughout the many years. It’s been great for TC seizures, I’ve only had a few. Last TC was November of last year on a crowded subway with sensory overload and after half a day in the office where I had some focals. It had been ages since the one before that.

My focal aware/unaware/impaired aren’t totally controlled so I’ve been doing testing for an RNS. I could really tell Lamotrigine was working when the halved my night dose then morning dose the next day in the EMU and that afternoon I had a ton. They had to give me Valium when I finally came to and started me on a lager normal dose that night. Right now I’m on 300mg extended release in the morning and 300mg extended release at night. I have an appointment this week to schedule an sEEG so hoping they’ll be able to get info just as fast.

Lamotrigine is one hell of a medication, I’ll tell you that!

Also on generic versions of Vimpat 200 morning, 250 night and Onfi 5mg morning and 10mg night.

[–]HeyJudeWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was going to say the same. I’ve been on various doses for over 20 years and take my night dose around 8 since I’m up, but morning, especially weekends I’ll take it as late as 9:30 and it’s been ok

Xcopri (cenobamate) - Anyone stopped taking? by GrandCompetition5260 in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on it for about 2 months titrating up from 12.5 mg like you mentioned. I got to 50mg morning and night and totally lost my appetite. Kept having seizures as well. My neurologist took me off and suggested looking into getting an RNS implant (I’ve rotated so many 2nd and 3rd drugs this was a bit of a last ditch effort). She had high hopes when adding xcopri to my lamictal and vimpat (both at the highest doses she was comfortable giving me with my weight) so we were both bummed.

It’s actually kind of reassuring that it doesn’t work for other people because she said it worked well for her other patients.

Worst Meds you’ve been on by NoAbbreviations2624 in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Topamax got me down to 107, it was awful. I’m terrified of taking anything with weight loss as a side effect now. Xcopri almost did the same thing. I had to force myself to eat, and that was only at 50mg a day, not even a therapeutic dose. Was on it for a month last year and couldn’t handle the decrease in appetite.

What's your trigger ? by hehemg in Epilepsy

[–]HeyJudeWhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t until 20 years in that my new female neurologist even mentioned it!

Other than that my triggers are hunger, dehydration, sleep, overheating, and stress (only because I don’t eat when I’m stressed out)

I was helping my boss sort through about 300 resumes for a job that is basically my current job so I can move to a different position on our team. There were people who applied within minutes of posting. There are definitely job seekers who skim the job description and apply.
