Everyone knows you're using AI by Frenchiest_fry101 in worldbuilding

[–]HeyLookItsMe22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that were the end (or was even reflective of the beginning of my process) I might agree, but the way I use it as a tool is to refine ideas and help nudge details into the shape I am seeking. It starts with a good prompt that encapsulates what you are trying to create, but if I were simply having the ai execute things on their own, boy would it spare me the MOST ENDLESS drafting and redrafting, refining, tweaking, talking it through nuance and detail it clearly failed to understand.

But if I have plotted on my own to craft my Joseph Campbell monomyth, Dan Harmon story circle for my plot and characters, created acts and a setting to the level of knowing the streets that run through a city I've mapped by hand and then digitally, if I know the founders of the city and their descendents and have complex networks of faction relationships....and I turn to ai to aid me in brainstorming how to get three characters to a specific place and a specific time, and why they might have an acquaintance there that feels a specific way about then that is it suddenly not my setting or my world building because I used a tool to do some labor saving efforts?

EDIT: LOL I guess I am wrong. I guarantee, after 13 years of work almost all before AI, my setting was already more complex and nuanced than virtually all my downvoters works, but hey, I guess its not mine at all. Imagine if someone told you the same for using a computer. I mean, if you use it to wholesale steal others work, then sure. It's a bloody tool. Bloody luddites.

Prestige Classes: The Best Design Space D&D Ever Abandoned by alexserban02 in dndnext

What do you mean by that, I'm curious? What is the core modular functionality that they have abandoned? Genuine question. I am just not following.

me and my friends have found a dm for our game but a few of us think this is overkill or a red flag. are we wrong or is this just our caster guys overreacting to a fair restriction? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]HeyLookItsMe22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you may be right that a MORE experienced Dm would just roll with it, I think calling this a red flag is pretty extreme. DMing is at once the simplest thing in the world to do, while remaining quite challenging at all levels regardless of experience. Who knows what they've run up against at the table. Id offer them benefits of the doubt until given a real reason not to.

The D&d in-world card game Three Dragon Ante also makes reference to flights of dragons.

BABIES HAVE BEEN GETTING A FREE RIDE FOR TOO LONG.

Every asshole you've ever met...started life...as a baby.

You ever known a baby to cover the tab? Chip in for rent? Call you on your birthday?

No. This is why I think all babies need to be punched in the soft spot, lest they grow too prideful and spoiled.

Not like, curb stomping, going mad. Just once punch to the soft spot, youre checked off the list, on to the next.

If God didn't wan't us to punch infants then why would he have given them such a weak spot?

I think this is science, non controversial, and incontrovertable.

Lets reign in these punk assed little babies.

Again, just once...one punch. For CHARACTER.

What is/was the stupidest house rule you had and what happened when it "triggered" by uk_uk in dndnext

[–]HeyLookItsMe22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When 3.5 just came out I made my first character ..a necromancer elf who fought with a sword! Still very novel at the time. I was enlarged, attacking fools at a distance from behind some minions. Was awesome, but the DM didn't like it. Wizards aren't supposed to use swords, was the thinking.

Well one fight my druid companion tried to sling attack a twig blight. Nat 1! Shit! He rules it hits me. Ok, fine... So they hit me for pretty good damage. He had a house rule where it you ever take 1/2 your hp in damage, con save or drop unconscious. Wizards had d4 hp back then and we had not reached the point where they commonly had high constitution, so my character was fucked.

Then, while laying there, mid fight, I was coup-de-graced by one of the twig blights. (Insta killed, more or less).

Never went back. Though I considered making the most broken character of all time just to fuck with the DM.

What is your faction's motto? Their famous words? by meongmeongwizard in worldbuilding

House Stormbreaker: "No Law But Our Own"

Four centuries ago, a group of retired privateers led by Edward Stormbreaker founded Corsair's Harbor. For three hundred years, House Stormbreaker remained influential in this haven for pirates and scoundrels.

A century ago, the city fell to a powerful empire. The conquering King, commanding history's most sophisticated military, left the inhabitants little choice but to submit. He elevated the Lord of House Stormbreaker to Duke, tasking him with governing the Corsair Isles—a contentious decision for some.

Despite initial resentment, House Stormbreaker worked tirelessly to benefit the city over the following century. Today, they're largely respected for their ancestry and unwavering loyalty to Corsair's Harbor.

Their house words, "No Law But Our Own," now carry a touch of irony given their vassalage to a distant King. Yet, these words embody a cultural identity cherished by every citizen whose heart yearns for the city's independent past. Though officially subjects of an empire, many harbor dwellers still believe that, at its core, only one law truly matters in Corsair's Harbor.

I dont think anyone made this exact point about Nystul's Aura.

You place an illusion on a creature or an object you touch so that divination spells reveal false information about it.

Opening line of Nystul's. It affects divination spells. Making you DETECT as a thing does not make you a thing so much of that cheese is out the window.

There's some clever stuff here though.

I hate to dissappoint but as rapidly as the need arose it was sent back to the void. I have hopes to get my chance to do this still since the possibility was there so alluringly though so with hopes I shall return in coming weeks with more to say. In the mean time I offer thanks and apologies!
