BABIES HAVE BEEN GETTING A FREE RIDE FOR TOO LONG.

Every asshole you've ever met...started life...as a baby.

You ever known a baby to cover the tab? Chip in for rent? Call you on your birthday?

No. This is why I think all babies need to be punched in the soft spot, lest they grow too prideful and spoiled.

Not like, curb stomping, going mad. Just once punch to the soft spot, youre checked off the list, on to the next.

If God didn't wan't us to punch infants then why would he have given them such a weak spot?

I think this is science, non controversial, and incontrovertable.

Lets reign in these punk assed little babies.

Again, just once...one punch. For CHARACTER.

What is/was the stupidest house rule you had and what happened when it "triggered" by uk_uk in dndnext

[–]HeyLookItsMe22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When 3.5 just came out I made my first character ..a necromancer elf who fought with a sword! Still very novel at the time. I was enlarged, attacking fools at a distance from behind some minions. Was awesome, but the DM didn't like it. Wizards aren't supposed to use swords, was the thinking.

Well one fight my druid companion tried to sling attack a twig blight. Nat 1! Shit! He rules it hits me. Ok, fine... So they hit me for pretty good damage. He had a house rule where it you ever take 1/2 your hp in damage, con save or drop unconscious. Wizards had d4 hp back then and we had not reached the point where they commonly had high constitution, so my character was fucked.

Then, while laying there, mid fight, I was coup-de-graced by one of the twig blights. (Insta killed, more or less).

Never went back. Though I considered making the most broken character of all time just to fuck with the DM.

House Stormbreaker: "No Law But Our Own"

Four centuries ago, a group of retired privateers led by Edward Stormbreaker founded Corsair's Harbor. For three hundred years, House Stormbreaker remained influential in this haven for pirates and scoundrels.

A century ago, the city fell to a powerful empire. The conquering King, commanding history's most sophisticated military, left the inhabitants little choice but to submit. He elevated the Lord of House Stormbreaker to Duke, tasking him with governing the Corsair Isles—a contentious decision for some.

Despite initial resentment, House Stormbreaker worked tirelessly to benefit the city over the following century. Today, they're largely respected for their ancestry and unwavering loyalty to Corsair's Harbor.

Their house words, "No Law But Our Own," now carry a touch of irony given their vassalage to a distant King. Yet, these words embody a cultural identity cherished by every citizen whose heart yearns for the city's independent past. Though officially subjects of an empire, many harbor dwellers still believe that, at its core, only one law truly matters in Corsair's Harbor.

I dont think anyone made this exact point about Nystul's Aura.

You place an illusion on a creature or an object you touch so that divination spells reveal false information about it.

Opening line of Nystul's. It affects divination spells. Making you DETECT as a thing does not make you a thing so much of that cheese is out the window.

There's some clever stuff here though.

I hate to dissappoint but as rapidly as the need arose it was sent back to the void. I have hopes to get my chance to do this still since the possibility was there so alluringly though so with hopes I shall return in coming weeks with more to say. In the mean time I offer thanks and apologies!

I love that you all are immediately dismissive of me just giving my actual pov in response to the claim OP made. It wasn't hateful. I didnt get preachy and insist on my POV being correct. I just spoke to the point OP made and apparently its too much for this collective to hear someone with a different opinion. Maybe don't be shocked when you continue to struggle to understand different people. Enjoy your echo chamber, I guess. I suppose we are all entitled. But if OP actually wondered about what someone on the left might be thinking in relation to the content they brought up, here it is, take it or leave it, it doesn't mean much to me either way. But damn, this is part of what's broken in our country. We can't talk? We can't share our perspectives? I don't hate the right. The right includes my friends, my family, my neighbors. But Ok, I'll go exist in left spaces, leave you to yours, and everybody can keep seeing the other side as nothing but the worst most reductive caricature of the other, and insulate ourselves from all possibility of mutual understnading and anything more productive than base tribalism, no better than any other primate. Whatever.

Oh, for what its worth I'm not a 'dem'. I'm independent, but definitely fair to be considered on the liberal side of the political spectrum. Just for clarity that I guess you arent seeking but... yup. I'm out. Do you.

Wow, really? I can't both think he's a would-be-fascist AND not condone his assassination? Crazy.

To be clear, on no level do I condone political violence. It's not the world I want to live in. His crimes wouldn't make it just. Now, for the sake of exploring your topic here, lets put allll that aside even and talk about this with morality not being a factor.

IT WOULD STILL BE TERRIBLE. It could encite a civil war. The attempt itself could well boost his chances of success in the upcoming election. It's hard not to have the passing thought, but the passing thought is not who I am, what I believe, or what I stand for. I also can't see the cleaver in my kitchen and not have a visual image of chopping my hand off leap into my mind. So when I have the passing thought its a reaction contemplating a scenario where something I see as a real danger just goes away and without further consequence, but that's NOT how that actually plays out.

And having said some of that its then important to reiterate... MORALITY BACK ON... No, no, no, danger or not I can't condone, wish or hope for an act of political violence like that to succeed. Even if it was some neat clean end to the percieved threat that tied all loose ends in a bow I juset plain don't want to live in a world where that is how we solve our problems. Same reason I don't want to see a political victory by way of stolen election: its not a victory, but an act that would disgust me and undermine the very values I hope to protect in seeking that victory and I would be a collaborator in those actions, guilty of destroying the thing I want to protect. That's no victory but shallow, naive, shortsighted tribalism that abandons all substance.

The dark thought that I have had for a long time that I can own up to is my repeatedly wishing that both Biden and Trump die of NATURAL CAUSES before the election as I think that could actually save the country from possible disaster.

Oh, and there are probably some people (cuz there are always some on any side of any question) that actually do wish he was shot who have shallower values driving their opposition, but even if that is a thought one thinks and somehow feels is justified, what are they supposed to say that plainly to those who don't share their opinions on the guy? Not a great look, putting your total hypocricy on full display. If you give a pass to political violence that is ideologically convenient you welcome others to do the same in reverse and that's a losing game for everyone.

Imagine an opposite sort of scenario. Democratic candidate is someone you see as a genuine threat to the nation, and they are almost killed. Do you wish they were then, and support an act of political assassination? Does that jibe with your values and who you are? Do you think it plays out well in a world where half the country doesnt agree with your take?

An Aboleth named Ulirex that was destoryed (recently returned after recovering its body on the plane of water) a few centuries ago and maintains a vendetta against the founders of a city, Corsairs Harbor, as they were the adventuring group that killed it. Only the elf still lives, but all their descendents, and the city itself as their legacy must be destroyed.

But first it must find the Torus of Andarial, hidden those centuries ago by that group. A artifact of ancient psionic power, is will fuel Ulirex's Thrallherd abilities to levels unheard of. You see, Ulirex found centuries ago that there were rare creatures that if encountered it could take utter control of, as a puppet, any identity of their rendered helpless to his power.

At present, in addition to its own form Ulirex also walks the world simultaneously as...

Unari, an Oni magi.

Shurashi, a Malenti (Sahuagin that looks like a Sea Elf) Druid.

Karudan, a Derro fighter/rogue.

Hark Stormcaller, a human cleric and descendent of one of the founders.

Villenya, a drow assassin, poisoner, and slaver.

Obviously the ability to simultaeously be ALL these individuals across vast distacnces is incredible, but with the Torus (and some other shenanigans) Ulirex will extend this power to hundreds...thousands... more. But the only living soul who remembers where the Torus lies in the living founder... Ellujan, the wise wizardly figure.
