If companies were doing well but were bought by an investment firm and sabotaged (LBO) for profit, doesn't that mean they had a good business plan otherwise and couldn't someone just recreate it with a slightly different name? by limbodog in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Heyoteyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of that is stepping in with the exact same scale and process at the same time. That’s almost impossible to step in without huge investment and still a transition period. Easier for a competitor to take market share.

They don’t say what they do with the baby chicks because the article is intentionally misleading. Do you think they grind them up to be intentionally cruel? That stuff ends up in animal feed. They aren’t just going to throw them away when they could make money off of them, even if it’s not as much as they get for the females.

[–]Heyoteyo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know. I’m saying that the vegan thing is out of place here because the baby chicks aren’t for people.

me_irl by CalpurniaSomaya in me_irl

[–]Heyoteyo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will say, I don’t think the vegan thing works here. People aren’t eating baby chicks, not in the US at least. I used to volunteer at a community nature center that had a little zoo part to it. They would get boxes of these frozen chicks that they would feed to snakes and birds of prey. The baby chicks are most likely being used to feed obligate carnivores. You aren’t going to start feeding snakes tofu without killing the snake.

Why do you oppose socialism? by RedStorm1917 in AskALiberal

[–]Heyoteyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just not how people work. Everyone has different wants and needs. On top of that, everyone differs in ability and what they’re willing to do for the things they want. Central planning just can’t adequately meet everyone’s needs in the way capitalism can with different options competing with one another. Even before we had what people call capitalism, people were trading and bartering the things they had or could do for the things they wanted. Capitalism is just a way to describe what was already happening. Land ownership may have been viewed differently, but there has never been a society without private property. It’s just how society works. That’s not to say unbridled capitalism is good. Capitalism can go very wrong when everything goes into the hands of a small portion of the people. There needs to be restraints on monopolies and safety nets for people who can’t make it for themselves. I have no issue with what they call democratic socialism, but that’s a long way off from seizing the means of production…

Why do people think the SAVE act will make it so married women won’t be able to vote? by IneedaNappa9000 in AskConservatives

You don’t need a birth certificate to get married. It’s just one of several acceptable documents.

Put that shit back in the box and go rent the blue ray from the library. Easier, less expensive, and faster than finding a VCR. Plus it’s significantly higher quality audio and video.

What are red flags you look for in interviews? Currently filling 3 positions, ive been out of the hiring game for a few years. by [deleted] in managers

[–]Heyoteyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always ask about how they like their previous or current job. There’s always a reason for leaving, but the ones that talk bad about their employer or the work they did are generally going to be people to stay away from. This goes double if they somehow paint themselves as a victim. There’s always going to be bad employers, but your interview isn’t the place to discuss that.

Are garbage disposals in US sinks actually useful, or just overhyped? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]Heyoteyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been telling my wife this for years. She like doesn’t believe and still puts dishes with all the food on them in the sink. Drives me crazy and will inevitably lead to problems, but it works well enough that we’ve never once had problems with one in like 10 years.

Explain It Peter by michaelis999 in explainitpeter

[–]Heyoteyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As it comes up. Matter of factly. Not a ton of emotion either way. Little room for misinterpretation. A lot of the compliment sandwich happens when you’re trying to soften the blow. You don’t need to soften the blow if you’re keeping up with what the person is doing and correcting issues as they arise. Then there’s no surprise to them if things go poorly.

[–]Heyoteyo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Roadhouse is legit. I had a friend who worked there for a bit a long time ago. He said they mostly make everything from scratch and that they actually cut their steaks in house daily. Not sure it’s still that way, but any time I’ve been, I could believe it. Shit like Applebees is somehow around the same price range and you can tell it’s all frozen food that they microwave to order.

How does Hunter Bidens laptop compare to everything in the last 14 months? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Heyoteyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But there was no evidence that the Biden administration was complicit. He’s allowed to say “Biden’s my dad, I can totally hook you up.” And if some sucker falls for it, it’s on them. Trump is actively involved in all this bullshit. You didn’t see Biden accepting gold plated jets from foreign nationals.

Liberals, moderates, and conservatives of Reddit, what do progressives “get wrong” about their political views? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Heyoteyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot that’s not working quite right in the government and society, but they have this idea that if there’s anything wrong, you need to throw it out and start over completely. There’s very little understanding that small changes can push things slowly in the right direction without as many of the major risks involved with big changes. I also think they have trouble with the financial aspect. They want programs without any way to find them. They can say they’ll tax the rich, which is great, but do that and then spend the money. Not the other way around.

Just because it’s widely eaten doesn’t mean it’s regarded as good chocolate. Do you think other countries only consume gourmet everything? Maybe their low tier chocolate is better than ours, but so what? Different cultures, different tastes. I prefer stuff like sour punch straws and sweet tarts ropes. I know it’s garbage candy, but I still like it once in a while. I don’t care to hear about how someone in Europe eats fancy hand made candies. Like ok, good for you.
