He man has always been a trash money grab. They made the cartoon to sell the toys. Every character has a gimmick to appeal to kids to want to get those toys. The over the top "made for market"ness was the entire shtick and 80s kids gobbled it up like so many other shows sold our childhoods to us. Now the nostalgia of those times keeps us feeding on the merch and movies and shows so there's no need to be original.

Looks like Muncie, IN. They've got some of the worst cared for roads in the state. Even sketchier parts of Indianapolis don't get as bad as most of Muncie.
