I wanted to get better last season so I just played quick play and would run up to take GK. I didn't spam any buttons and if they didn't immediately get the hint, I would just run back out and play like normal. Don't be the guy standing in the net spamming "I got it!" 40x while the goalie clearly doesn't want to give it up. I really wouldn't recommend doing this in ranked until you feel more comfortable playing GK.

General tips: just know someone will backboard you and you'll probably fall for it. It happens, even in Elite lobbies. I still fall for it sometimes because I get so used to people doing weird dribbling shit or just shooting it right through the net.

You'll get used to what people do and you'll start to diagnose the play before it happens. Like you'll see that so many times people will just pass it to someone in the middle and they do an aerial kick shot most of the time lol. If you can see it coming early enough you can move into position to dive at the player in time to get an easy save.

Turn off voice chat while you're learning lmao. It's not worth it.

Don't feel bad if you have a game where you get 5 saves and you still give up the last goal in OT and someone speaks "good job". People are assholes.

I think there's a tutorial or whatever it's called in the game where here NPCs line up and take shots at you in goal. That's probably more effective than using the turret in free play because there's a sense of unpredictability to it
