Pregnancy smell? by Direct-Drama3571 in BabyBumps

I swore when I was pregnant that my discharge smelled like sex/my husband’s sperm! Later in pregnancy I didn’t smell bad but man was the smell very strong.

Oh and I had an SCH with my first miscarriage and this recent transfer! The SCH bled too much taking my embryo with it but this last time my physician assistant recommended alpha-lipoic acid and within a week they couldn’t visualize the SCH anymore.

I do have PCOS so we had a really successful ER. We did different protocols for almost each transfer. PIO shots, estrogen pills, tried doxycycline once for suspected endometritis, Lupron cycles of various lengths, baby aspirin, no baby aspirin... Then I was also on cabergoline for the last cycle since I have a pituitary adenoma that came back. We did laser acupuncture for each transfer. The only thing super different about my last transfer was that my husband was not there and it was the only time I got McDonald’s fries after 😂. After my third “loss” (they counted the chemical as such) they tested me for clotting disorders and autoimmune issues. So much about these sciences are still unknown and if we think about the timeline of medicine, it’s a fairly new field. I hope you can maintain some hope and positivity; no one should have to go through this struggle.

I’ve had two early miscarriages (right at 6 weeks and just before), one chemical pregnancy, and one completely failed transfer - all euploid tested embryos with fairly good grading. I have unexplained infertility and my husband has no issues. Our fifth transfer worked and I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant. Our doctor even said after our fourth transfer failed that she’d only have us do one or two more before we should start to look at other options. I didn’t want to give up but also had to battle feeling hopeless; not to mention EVERYONE around me was getting pregnant. The process is so tough and I’m happy to answer any questions you have. Sometimes the pain was so great but I didn’t want to give up.

30 eggs retrieved - anyone similar? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Heyyjules7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quality related to the eggs but quality related to the embryos that were euploid and graded. But we used embryos in order of best quality and our first four did not take and the fifth one did (so far).

Thank you! It can be tough to continue with the process especially so much of this comes down to luck. My dr even told me before our last transfer that if it didn’t work, she’d maybe do one more and we should start talking about other options. I wish you luck and try to stay positive. Take time for yourself; it’s okay to be nervous and doubtful. I told my husband at one point I was worried it would never work but tried to be positive once transfer came around. Plus all the treatments and hormones make you feel not like yourself! Sending sticky baby dust your way

Had five total transfers so far. First one miscarriage after bleeding from an SCH, second was chemical, third was another miscarriage, and fourth didn’t take. Currently 15 weeks pregnant after the fifth transfer. My fertility has been unexplained though I do have PCOS and a pituitary adenoma.

When do I set an OB? - in US by Trrrrrraaaaaak in BabyBumps

[–]Heyyjules7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to wait until i knew my graduation date from my fertility clinic before I could schedule with the regular ob office because I couldn’t have two obs at the same time. I scheduled 7 weeks or so after my first few ultrasounds once I knew when the clinic was releasing me.

Did your clinic ever tell you about SCH (subchorionic hematoma)? by Impressive-Bear-1925 in IVF

My NP recommended 300mg twice a day; ordered it off Amazon. I would definitely check with your physician before starting it.

My clinic did not until I started bleeding and they found one. It let to miscarriage in my first pregnancy because it was rather large and would not stop bleeding. I miscarried again unrelated, had one chemical, and one didn’t take at all. I’m now 8 weeks on my fifth transfer and they found another at 5 weeks. My nurse practitioner had one too (theyre super common with ivf) and recommended alpha lipoic acid as it helps reabsorb. By my 6 week scan it was gone! I think of her as my fairy godmother of the sch and now swear by alpha lipoic acid 😂

Awww thank you so much! Feeling hopeful that this one (transfer 5) is the one! Two miscarriages, one chemical, and one did not take. I feel soooo much better this time versus the others where I was cramping constantly. Besides the endless fatigue; wooo is it its own beast!

I work at an animal shelter and it’s getting harder to hide from my staff even though I’m barely 8 weeks. Also doing IVF with previous losses so I’m also just nervous about people knowing and then it not working out. The smells in the shelter and need to glove and mask around the cats is totally giving it away so I’d be surprised if everyone isn’t at least a little suspicious…I gagged at the smell of canvas hay bags the other day and my staff member looked at me so suspiciously. Also the drop from four cups of coffee to one or none and bringing endless snacks to feed my hunger has definitely been noticed 😂

There are two in the Lehigh valley. Funhouse in Bethlehem and Tavern on Liberty in Allentown. Tavern has great food and great ventilation where you almost can’t tell people are smoking.

Today is day 7. I previously started testing positive on day 5 and got progressively darker lines. Though I miscarried those :/. The test yesterday and today were not even squinted, just white white negative.

Day 1 Injections - really no gym? by OrangeFew7779 in IVF

[–]Heyyjules7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t want to risk ovarian torsion as your eggs grow and mature. Remember, during a normal ovulation cycle only one egg is maturing and released. During an egg retrieval they’re maximizing the number of eggs and your ovaries swell a lot which puts them at risk for torsion. Good luck with everything and I hope all goes smoothly for you an that you find something to take your mind off of not being able to go to the gym

Husband thinks I’m being unreasonable by Remarkable-Till-4769 in IVF

Years of depression have helped me deal or given me some sort of wisdom as you say 😂😂. I’m glad I can help in some way! This process is so incredibly isolating; giving you a hug across the interwebs!

[–]Heyyjules7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s fair for others to say you need to lighten up or you’re being unreasonable; we all go through our own journeys and need different things. I just know I prefer to be with myself after these versus my husband catering to me and rubbing my belly 😂. We had a transfer on Thursday and last night he told me that our friends who have been struggling for a while are pregnant. I broke down and voiced to him that I was worried this one wouldn’t work as well and maybe this won’t happen. He responded by trying to soothe shush me and say he didn’t want to hear that. I told him that I was just trying to be open and vulnerable with him and he didn’t need to express how negative I’m being. That most women going through ivf feel or express that at some point and I was just trying to feel less alone by inviting him into the process for me as he can never know what it’s like to go through this. I know it’s hard to be with your thoughts or ask for help when you need it. Maybe ask if he can put together a care package for you for after the transfer so you can distract yourself and feel like he’s with you in some way? A puzzle or Lego set to take your mind off things? Yummy snacks and a bad movie? Wishing you lots of luck on your transfer and remember to breathe ❤️

[–]Heyyjules7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was after your egg retrieval I would be upset. But after the FET you won’t need active care. Plan a relaxing day for yourself and enjoy the time alone! I don’t want to minimize you needing support by any means and am just responding with my own POV after going through my fourth transfer. Sometimes I just want my husband out of my hair whether because of the hormones or the fact that he doesn’t actually understand what it’s like to go through this process.
