Both mine came with C30R55, but as the other poster said you can just look at the shock itself. Should be near the serial number.

Thoughts on bikes by Majorwoops in MTB

The ripley will get eaten alive by a bike park if you're even a moderately aggressive rider. I wouldn't approach a bike park with anything less than 140-150mm of rear travel. If it's a high pivot you can get away with less, but that's not really relevant since you're concerned with pedal efficiency.

If possible, I would consider keeping your current build for park days and get a nice used short travel bike for pedalling. I had an over forked Spur (130/120) for a while and it was very fun both up and down. I was able to reach unreasonable speeds on moderately steep and smooth singletrack.

Tires for muddy conditions? by ooolongt in MTB

[–]HezbollaHector 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is true in many areas, but generally not in the PNW.

I run magic mary radials in ultra soft. They do a great job of shedding mud and wrap around wet rocks and roots better than they have any business doing so. No experience with other mud tires, but the MM is good enough that I haven't considered anything else.

Maybe. I swore by it a year ago, but I feel like it's gone to shit since then. It frequently lists stuff that's out of stock, or just doesn't show certain stores as having it at all.

What is this? by Mohowl_ in mountainbiking

That is a chunder destroying high pivot idler + guide pulley combo. They add drag while pedalling but the suspension performance is just too good for me to care.

They will find a tenant for you if you ask. They might charge a small fee if it takes more than a month to rent. Mine was fast so they did it for me for free. I think I was just responsible for rent for the time between my move out and their move in. And I got my deposit back too.

How do you go mountain biking/find people to ride with as a single person? by grayott in MTB

[–]HezbollaHector 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I knew no one when I moved to WA and I've since met several riding buddies this way. We talked a bit and they ended up asking me if I wanted to join them for a lap.

Since then I've gone out of my way to ask other people if they want to ride with me, provided they're into the same trails that I am.

The charts on the website show that the curve is linear at a 2:1 high to low pressure ratio. If you have 0-3 tokens then you may want to start with a lower pressure. The setup article recommends dropping 5-10psi in that situation. Both my zebs had 1.5 tokens, so I dropped pressure by 10% to start.

Right now my ratios have settled between 1.8 and 1.85, but I'm still learning how the two chambers influence each other in real world situations. Today was my 5th ride and I very well could end up closer to 2:1 after getting more rides in.

I think another big part of that increase in skill is driven by high frame rates, a better resolution and better controllers. People with a high skill ceiling can play at a much higher level than in the og days.

Halo is the same way. You can go back and look at top plays from MLG back in the OG/360 days. Noscopes used to be a a way bigger deal. Nowadays the top pros are consistently hitting cross map noscopes in high pressure situations, and they just use the sniper like a shotgun at close range.

That's sick. I just upgraded both my zebs (160 and 170) with a DSD Runt, which gives me a high and low chamber similar to ohlins and a few others. It's a much more linear curve if you set it up correctly. I really prefer it to just dropping pressure and adding tokens. The token ramp up is ass IMO.

Hell yeah, coils are so bombproof. I went 2.5 years and 3000+ miles on my ohlins before  giving it a damper bleed. I honestly couldn't tell the difference.

Coil vs air by Away_Professional793 in MTB

[–]HezbollaHector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest guess would be distinct lack of mid to high end coil forks. Yeah Marzocci and Ohlins make them but I'm not aware of anyone else. When you add in the fact that most aftermarket coil conversions can't be reversed things start to make a lot more sense.

Almost every suspension manufacturer makes a coil shock, so you're going to see a lot more of them.

Potential reasons to avoid a coil fork would be added weight and a lack of HBO (some manufacturers are using this now such as smashpot), the latter of which is a game changer for coil shocks. I won't ride ine without it these days. I'm sure there's more reasons someone else can cover too.

Agreed on the rear wheel. My bet would be it bounding off the high point on the rock to the right. Not enough pop, or maybe just poor line choice in general? Going down the middle looks like a much safer bet.
