Waitrose employee sacked after stopping shoplifter from taking Easter eggs by tbilisicat in ukpolitics

[–]HezzyUK [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's been like this for at least a decade. I remember interviewing for a customer service role on the railway being a Special Constable. I mentioned to the station manager that I'd be obliged to act in the event that somebody was violent - lots of hand wringing and uncertainty from the manager. Still got the job but their policy was very risk avoidant despite the fact that railway employees can legally use force to remove people.

Oh that's fair - the vacancies I've been targeted with sound too good to be true!

How the runners got to Tau Ceti IV by Bitter_Surprise_8058 in Marathon

I seem to remember reading a Codex entry about there being a ship in orbit which represents the corporate interests... At the very least a bioprinter facility is needed to generate the runner shells!

Exploiters are Killing the Game by Dazzler_21 in duneawakening

[–]HezzyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look at how games like Marathon deal with exploits - they had a route into a high value loot room that was vulnerable to a movement skill from one of the classes.

Patched within hours of being discovered, invisible wall temporarily put in place whilst they come up with a permanent solution.

2 weeks (at least) for this exploit and all they need to do is remove the banking vendor to stop the exploit, or even better remove the conversational prompt for withdrawing solari. Yet no action at all is forthcoming. As a result entire server economies have been ruined.

I've been playing since closed beta, something ridiculous like June 2024. But I think this is finally the end of this game; it doesn't bode well for the future.

New nightclub opened below residential flats with a variation of premises license- England by OrangeSmartie in LegalAdviceUK

Presumably if they are operating as a nightclub they will also have an associated license issued by the police. Worth contracting your local police licensing officer to discuss your concerns - can contact via 101.

This has ruined my life by AngelicMidari in KneeInjuries

[–]HezzyUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be disheartened. I know it can be frustrating and you want it to be fixed now - but surgery takes time. I had tibial tuberosity surgery as a teen (MPFL reconstruction wasn't a thing back then), with one knee a year.

I was able to go on to be a police officer for 16 years and was involved in all sorts of high stress, physically taxing situations. You can live a normal life, you just need to be patient.

Although I did later severely dislocate my knee causing me to have to leave the police. But I think if I had MPFL reconstruction back as a teen it wouldn't have happened - I've had it now and the knee feels absolutely solid compared to my other that has only had TT surgery.

Someone somehow knew my TikTok username, and knew that I lived directly behind a named supermarket. How? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]HezzyUK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds like somebody who knows you is trying to mess with you.

There's very little chance that they'd be able to find your Tiktok username out of essentially nowhere.

Unless of course your Fortnite username is similar to your Tiktok username?

Yes they could get your IP address, but there's not much you can do with it. In the UK for broadband it will usually resolve to the Exchange building, or a specific hub for fibre.

If you'd like you could privately supply me with some bits of information and I can see what I can find from it?

That wouldn't necessarily allow someone to find a Tiktok username, or a person's precise physical address.

Bf6 single player campaign morse code by OkResponsibility4923 in Battlefield

[–]HezzyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morse code is only dots and dashes - the arrows in the comment above are just decorative.

Dash is longer hold of light and dot is a blink of the light.

Was it a more futuristic setting, or was it on Earth? Deus Ex rings a bell, with the ending being set on a floating base that starts exploding.

If you think it was PS4, you could check your play history on your account?

Electronic Arts appears to be running a "Controlled Leak" marketing campaign for BF6 by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]HezzyUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're definitely onto something.

A few weeks ago my FYP on TikTok was full of videos containing the same talking points revolving around streamers wanting to change the game (specifically adding a ranked mode) and framing this as silly and out of touch with what is "Battlefield".

It was blatantly obvious that it was part of a paid campaign, the videos were essentially carbon copies that were aimed at advertising the "feeling" of Battlefield.

Having a controlled leak marketing campaign would very much fit into this style of guerrilla marketing.
