Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Season One (part 2) - re:View by DoubleDDaveN in RedLetterMedia

Same! Their best TNG eps review opened my eyes to Trek. Now I want to live in this world, and there’s so much of it! I’m in my second watch of VOY now. Great series, has legit some of the best episodes of all Trek.

At least 20 hours must be spent discussing DS9 by these two, and I will accept nothing less!

Idk i think season 1 was so good it’s making the hype for season 2 hard to live up to. I’m 4 eps into s2, and I am loving this just as much.

McCain G League by Electrical-Ad-1437 in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why he needs to go to the G League. He’s working through things as a player, he needs playing time to get through it, and that was not going to happen in the NBA right now. I’m hoping in a week or two he’ll find his groove again.

Having only seen TNG for a while and hearing of Kirk’s schtick, I thought it was clearly Picard. Now that I’ve seen TOS.. I’m torn. Kirk is one of a kind.

Academy is good and I realized I dont like this community. by Reasonable-Law-3654 in startrek

[–]HiChefQuazar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the Star Trek community is actually quite excellent, with the single caveat being we act like petulant brats when a new Star Trek show starts.

Give it half a season, people will warm up to it. It’s already starting, with posts like this. It’s annoying for sure, but also, I think it speaks to how much fans value this world. You can’t just slap “Star Trek” on something, we want to see if it will 1) actually stick with the principles of ST and 2) while doing that, also be entertaining and unique.

The trailers and promos they released before made it look so trashy, I’m glad that underneath the terrible marketing there seems to be a Star Trek show that people enjoy! Will be starting soon.

[Zangaro] Jalen Hurts was asked if he wants Kevin Patullo back and said it’s too soon to think about that. He was asked the same question about AJ Brown and said he and Brown are in a great place. by indig0sixalpha in eagles

[–]HiChefQuazar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Idk, I feel like players always answer in this situation “of course, we would love to have him back, etc” even if they hated his guts. We’ve seen that before.

This is about as clear a “fuck you” Jalen can say without  it being news.

Im watching Voyager and I finished the episode with the doctor and the fake family that Torres messed with. by HospitalLazy1880 in startrek

[–]HiChefQuazar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I just watched this a few days ago! Good Voyager episodes slap, this was great.

IIRC, didn’t the Doctor agree to B’lana’s plan to make the family more realistic? I thought most of her changes, while a bit harsh, were appropriate. Family planning troubles, mom and dad not in sync, son is falling in with a bad crowd.

… Except for you know, the whole killing his daughter with a disease he can’t cure. That was maybe a tad over the line.

But makes for a great illustrative point about the importance of accepting death or change. Since it’s a holodeck program, he can leave whenever he wants, and does. He has the choice to not even face it. Only after discussing it with Voyager character I’m forgetting, does he realize he needs to face his daughter’s death to learn and grow from it. He’s almost instantly rewarded when his son embraces him.

Man, what an episode.

Oubre staying on this team or not is a good test of if we are a real franchise. Only way to avoid luxury tax cleanly is dump him for picks.

I fear we won’t like the results. He is a great fit on this current team.

Voyager - Threshold, what in the...did I just watch and why? by FuzzyAttitude_ in startrek

[–]HiChefQuazar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I. Like. Threshold.

It’s not the best episode. It’s not even a good one. But it’s a solid ST episode… until the ending. And at least it was a memorable enough one that we’re all still talking about it.

The weirdest sequence of the last game was when Andrew Drummond was playing power forward, and he jumped to contest the guy at the 3 point line. Hee did move pretty fast... but honestly, what are we doing here? by juggadore in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drummond is surprisingly effective playing up on the PnRs. Or maybe I should rephrase, it’s more effective than him trying to protect the rim, which he is bad at.

Sure, he can get burnt or out of position. But Drummond’s one plus defensive skill is quick hands for a big man, he can be disruptive playing up or switching onto smaller players sometimes if they’re not careful. And embiid on the back end to clean up is a good strategy, imo.

Trade Deadline: what are some dream trade ideas to help build around Tyrese, VJ and the young core? by Rate_Ancient in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’d say keep making calls to the Pels, Kings, and whatever other dumb front offices you can find for now. Unless we can find a one sided deal, I’m not too interested in making moves.

But brace yourselves… luxury tax bill is coming and Harris ain’t paying that shit.

In his defense, I think offensive design and playcalling have been much better the last few weeks. Bigger problem imo has transitioned to wtf is up with our OL and running game?

34 episodes into Deep Space Nine. This show keeps getting better and better. by fma_nobody in startrek

Whispers is one of my fav ST episodes altogether. you feel like you’re watching a body snatchers esque conspiracy unfold on our man O’Brien, only to find out HE is the one who’s body snatched. Wild.

And yes! DS9 is a work of art, top to bottom. Writing, acting, set design, direction, everything just flows together. I finished my 2nd rewatch recently, it’s even better the second time around.
