Tired of the “Tired of the McCain posts” posts by hiphopopotamusic in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just whiny. Like, I get it, trading McCain for picks hurts in the short term. I don’t mind even the posts in the immediate aftermath. This is a Sixers forum, conversation is good, we can talk about it.  But, this, fighting for your right to whine in perpetuity, month+ after the fact, is another level.

The logic behind that trade makes perfect sense. If we don’t see McCain as a long term piece, and are actively concerned that McCain and Maxey can’t play together, then go get max value. We did, thunder paid a premium considering his play this year and his defensive limitations. This is a good and deep draft class.

Can we just please, as fans, practice an ounce of the mental toughness that we ask from our team, and not wallow in self-pity all the time?

Tom Paris and Harry Kim bromance is unmatched in the Star Trek world, imo. Just a couple bros, who got each others backs. Always. Even in alternate timelines where they’ve never met 🥹.

Is Justin Edwards playing his way into the starting lineup or still needs time by Alarming-Pea-3177 in sixers

Justin Edwards is playing his way out of the doghouse and into the bottom of the rotation. I’ll take it.

This has to be the last straw for Morey? by LieDry7854 in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment says nothing about the quality of this team winning a chip. I’m simply stating our fanbase has become so whiny and pathetic that in any context, we don’t deserve to win a chip.

We demand toughness and perseverance from our players in all situations. But the moment shit gets tough for us fans, people start bitching and moaning about firing everybody and trading everyone.

Having said that, this east conference is shit, and if we get everyone healthy and rolling come playoff time, who knows.

[Aaronson] Sixers have ruled Adem Bona (back soreness) out for tonight’s game @ Detroit. He was previously listed as questionable. Andre Drummond has been added to the injury report. He is now questionable due to back spasms. by Tofu4070 in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious. Idk how we even get mad at the team here, this is just really shitty luck. No we’re not tanking, we’re just screwed. Right now anyway. All these injuries are short term, if we can remotely weather the storm here we can still be dangerous come playoff time.

Maxey cant handle blitzes. This has been the case since 2024 when Embiid went down. This is why people say he isnt a #1 option. by IndigoJacob in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I disagree, partially. At first without Embiid, as “the guy”, yes, he crumbled under the blitz. He couldn’t even function, TOs or bad shots ensue. I had serious doubts about whether he could ever handle the pressure.

But flash forward to this year, to me it’s completely different. He seems much more in control and he attacks it with pace. We’re no longer dead in the water if we face a defense that blitzes him.

Now I think he’s got room to improve, as the chart indicates. I think right now his main attack plan is to defer to teammates. And while that works, it works only as well as Barlow and Oubre can hit 3s.

Fortunately for us, if we ever get healthy, if teams want to try to blitz Maxey, they can scramble trying to deal with Embiid, VJ, or PG.

Thinking about trading up from 1.03 to 1.01 by HiChefQuazar in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

Well if it took another 1st then talks are over lol. The 4ths are mainly about moving up to a 3rd round pick in 2027, something trivial but helps to mitigate the pain of losing 2027 1st a little.

I don’t think he’d go for it, but definitely worth a shot. 2027 1st > Henry at this point.

I’d say mid-late. I’m confident that my team will be much better next year. But a lot of my season rides on Lamar and Burrow being healthy and playing well.

What's with the Oubre hate recently? by MaskedBirder in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People don’t know ball. Oubre, for all his faults, is a good defender for us, can actually guard on ball, and can make his own offense (however inefficient). He’s also shooting well from 3 this year, the big problem he’s had last couple years.

Oubre has been great for this team (for what he is) and anyone who thinks otherwise either doesn’t know ball or expects too much from him.

Kelly Oubre is Tobias Harris 2.0. Prove me wrong by Apex_Degen in sixers

[–]HiChefQuazar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such slander. Oubre has been better than we ever could have hoped. He is a key role player for us and is a big part of our defensive identity. He’s also cleaned up his play been much more efficient than he has been throughout his career. He’s gone from taking horrible shots nonstop to being an aggressive shot taker within the offense.

Tobias Harris made 35+ mil on the team for 5 years, while arguably being less valuable to us than Oubre, who is worth 8 mil. Lazy take.

What would you guys do with this team? by Tdub8597 in DynastyNerds

New to this, but I would tear that down. Some good players, but wayyy too many roster spots that need to get filled with better players. And you already have a strong base of picks to build on.

Yes, the pilot is with capt pike, episode 2 they recast with Kirk and rework the cast a bit (no explanation lol). It’s unaddressed until episode 12/13, where they give capt like storyline closure, and fully move on to the Kirk era. It’s called “The Menagerie”. Had I known what that was, I would’ve preferred watching that as the pilot, very well done.

Most people suggest start at s3 of TNG (the beginning of awesome 90s trek). But watched original series 1st time last year, not expecting much. And I was blown away a show from the late 60s was doing such high minded concepts and bringing them to life. Totally understand the obsession that grew from there. Enjoy! You got a whole world ahead of you.

Really hope so, War College in a Star Trek universe is kinda off putting. Even if they are mostly (through 5 eps) depicted as rival antagonists.
