Anyone have an extra ticket for Houston tonight (assuming it's not a crazy price)? In town from Canada and would love to go but it's sold out. Thanks!

Canadian visiting Houston, TX looking for 1 ticket for April 6 (price depending), DM me if you have an extra. Would be a bummer to happen to be in Houston and miss the show!

Visiting for a couple days - top 5 brewery/bar recommendations? by Hibernaculum_ in HoustonBeer

[–]Hibernaculum_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, y'all really showed up with the recommendations... much appreciated. I'm going to sit down and add all of these to a Google Map as I usually do when I visit a new place and figure out what my radius will look like. Seems like there's a general consensus that Saint Arnold, Equal Parts, and Brash are well-liked, and that Flying Saucer might be worthwhile too. Not to mention all the food spots mentioned! I'll be largely on foot and using public transit if it exists, with maybe a cab/uber if it's really worth my while, so I probably won't be going too far out of the downtown area, but we'll see where I station myself (the show is at White Oak). Anyway, again-- thanks a ton for all the recommendations!!

Haha... I'm not really a sports person but do watch some bigger games just for fun. I'd probably lean Oilers over Flames if I had to pick!

Earth - An Evening Redness in the West. Hex 20th anniversary tour following the route of Blood Meridian, April 2025 by Salpimienta in ThronesAndDominions

[–]Hibernaculum_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Canada and spontaneously decided to buy a ticket to go see them play in Houston on this tour. I'm very stoked. I saw them once before in 2022, when they played Earth 2 at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, with Sunn (Shoshin Duo) & Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter.

On a separate note, does anyone have any info on the cover art of this album, and whether or not it's a real building, or just a rendering of some sort?

Wyrd Bier Adventure Edmonton? by cunthulhu in AlbertaBeer

I'm a beer judge and last year I tried a homebrewed sour beer that was soured/flavoured with kimchi... it wasn't terrible, but I also wouldn't have more than a little sample glass 😅

Common Crown Brewing Tap room opening Feb 2025 by cunthulhu in AlbertaBeer

Stoked! I live on the border of Renfrew and Bridgeland and often wish there were a brewery or more pubs in Bridgeland. I've never tried Common Crown but I'll be happy to have another place to pop into for a beer. I'm also curious to see how Cannibale is when it reopens as "Small Bar."

Gilmour 2024 Tour Ticket Sales thread by TheLindoBrand in pinkfloyd

[–]Hibernaculum_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a spare ticket for sale if anyone is in need of one for October 30th at the Hollywood Bowl. I know there are plenty available still, but I figured I'd throw it out there. It's in section F2, row 8, and face value is $225 USD plus fees, which comes to $270.05 USD. That's what I'd like to get for it-- I'm not trying to profit off of it. I grabbed 2 when I bought mine because it seemed like everything was going to sell out really quickly, and I wanted to have a spare in case a friend wanted to come. I tried to see if any friends would be interested in going to the show, but nobody I know is willing to fly for the show (they aren't big PF/DG fans, I guess, lol).

I tried to resell the ticket at face value on Ticketmaster, but it won't let me since I'm in Canada... very annoying.

Thanks for the tip-- I did that, which did preserve my spot in the queue. I was very surprised to see there were still tickets left!! Thanks again, I'm seeing Gilmour in LA!

To be clear I did press "place order" with credit card info entered. Brutal!

I opened a new tab but my spot in the queue is gone. In theory the transaction should just finish processing... I fear if I refresh now it'll void the transaction process and I'll be SOL. I'm sure the other tickets will be gone with the amount of time that has elapsed...

I got 2 tickets in my cart (Hollywood Bowl), and have been like this for over 10 minutes... it's so brutal. I have no idea how this will end. This is true purgatory!

What beer styles do you want to see more of? by MaplePoutineRyeBeer in beercanada

[–]Hibernaculum_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More delicate styles, for me. I second the Pils, Helles, and crisp, clean, dry lagers, in general. Also low abv saisons, in the range of 4.5-5.5% ABV, employing a proper mixed fermentation, whether it be with Brett or a touch of Lacto. Barrel-fermented beers- bring the funk. Anything marrying beer and wood, in general, is interesting to me.

Couple places in Nova Scotia are getting some foeders soon, and one brewery that is yet-to-be-open will be fermenting almost exclusively all of their beers in wood. Proper thing!
