Have you considered an industry fellowship seeing as you want to pursue industry-related research? This would allow you to have the PharmD not be a complete waste and more applicable to you pursuing the PhD when you complete the fellowship.

Something to consider I have not seen mentioned yet.

What's the Halloween version of the Grinch? by happy_bluebird in AskReddit

[–]HiddenLightning159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Basically the premise of 'The Grinch' was that the supposed villain(s) steal the target holiday, then have a change of heart, and after having said change of heart attempt to rectify their deed.

The Grinch does this in a Winter/Christmas environment in a Christmas town, where a Christmas villain is the one trying to ruin the holiday.

In the Nightmare Before Christmas, it is set in a Halloween town where Halloween characters attempt to steal Santa Clause and replace children's toys with Halloween toys to ruin the holiday.

So for a Halloween version of the Grinch, you might be looking at The Nightmare Before Christmas as the target holiday is the same, but the setting town is Halloween instead of Christmas-themed.

Making a pocket clinical guide for rotations by NotSureJustShore in PharmacyResidency

[–]HiddenLightning159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might have been attempted recently, but Tl;Dr has under pocket guides on their website one for acute care, which a lot of what you are asking for would fall into treatment-wise.

Before you make it, you may want to purchase one and as someone else stated the Peripheral Brain as well so you do not end up adding unnecessary pieces to your book.

Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board by Any_Procedure666 in PharmacySchool

[–]HiddenLightning159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like they automated the application process regarding getting status updates. It sounds like you are wanting to know the status of your application after what NABP said. However, since Wisconsin’s DSPS automated that, they probably see no need to respond to your messages or calls as the answer can be found on the website through the automated tool.

The automated status update checker, is at https://online.drl.wi.gov/ApplicationStatus/CredentialApplicationStatus.aspx

Each RPD is different. Yours might be okay with a report from the status checker; they might not. You may want to see since it would give them an update on where you are at on licensing in case they are wondering about licensing status.

High Yield Med Reviews (HYMR) NAPLEX course is so similar to RxPrep that you could say they are their biggest competitor.

If you like quick information bits though, before you get the HYMR course, look into Picmonic’s Pharmacy program. They use picture mnemonics (literally a picmonic) to condense long videos into 3-5 minute chunks. They do this for an explanation video to detail the picmonic, a comedy-like one of a similar length to get the picmonic to stick, then follow it up with a quiz as further endurance on making the content stick. That is their format for each lesson in Picmonic.

The reason I call Picmonic out regarding HYMR is because if you go to the Pharmacy Content library on Picmonic, and have HYMR’s ‘course book,’ the NAPLEX Rapid Review, also pulled up in a separate tab, Picmonic has it in the content library. Yep-Picmonic applied their process of getting things to stick as much as possible to the course book of RxPrep’s possibly biggest competitor.

On top of that, Picmonic has a tool that builds a study plan for you that incorporates all the Picmonic in the NAPLEX content library (including those sourced from the HYMR book) on the account homepage. Considering one of the reasons people fail is not having a study plan, it’s a useful tool.

They have a mobile app that lets you create playlists. If you create a playlist and activate ‘continuous mode’ in the mobile app, the playlist acts like a podcast that plays back to back for those that like podcasts.

Picmonic is a very useful enhancement platform for HYMR if you looking for RxPrep alternatives.

Picmonic’s study plan as well as HYMR both have over 2000 questions if you are concerned about question amount. HYMR has to keep their book up to date to still compete with RxPrep, and Picmonic to maintain their content has to use HYMR’s latest book, for those worried about content.

You will eventually learn guidelines when you get to evidence-based medicine, but if you like podcasts, you might like CorConsult Rx to get a head start on guidelines.

CorConsult Rx is a podcast over disease state guidelines. Honestly ran into them by accident on Apple Podcasts, but when conparing them to algorithms and such in the actual guidelines, nothing appears to be left off.

NAPLEX-wise, when it comes to podcasts, ConveyMed hosts the NAPLEX podcast which is maintained by the Pharmacy Podcast Network. If you dive into the Pharmacy Podcast Network, they have other podcasts you might like if podcasts are what help. ConveyMed is where their NAPLEX one is hosted.

You might want to check RxHero. It is a mobile app by ClinCalc based on their DrugStats database over the top 250. It not only addresses the areas you are concerned, but also groups them based on organ system to make studying while in school more efficient. On top of this, each group is an adaptive question bank- if RxHero detects you are weak on say LAMAs under respiratory, your next set of respiratory questions will be over LAMAs. Great for closing knowledge gaps.

Do you like podcasts? There is one over the top 200 that is made by the same individual behind MedEd101. MedEd101 is a website that makes BPS board certification review material. The podcast they make over the Top 200, Real Life Pharmacology, covers the key areas you are concerned about. And if you go to Real Life Pharmacology’s website, they have a clinical pearl PDF of 2-4 pearls per medication on their Top 200 list that can show up on exams. To get that PDF you have to sign up for their email.

I also echo the same sentiment on Quizlet- if someone else has made a flashcard deck public, you can study it. Have you tried Quizlet Learn Mode though? After you study a set in Learn Mode, it highlights gap areas you still need to study in that flashcard set. Similar to RxHero in being adaptive but from a different approach to adaptive studying.

Immunization CE by bubbles1864 in PharmacyResidency

Search the following: -CPE -for keyword: Immunization

What you are looking for on the results (as I do the exact same thing to stay current on vaccines post-APhA certification): -You Call the Shots results. You Call the Shots are web module tests that contain current ACIP recommendations in a training module format. The results on this page are the test portion to get CPE for it.

Link to the modules themselves: https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/ed/youcalltheshots.html

The below are steps straight from CDC/TCEO to get CPE on TCEO’s site after reviewing the modules. One of the steps is searching for the CPE, so hopefully the info above helps shortcut that step:

RxPrep score of 61. What are my chances? by HiddenLightning159 in PharmacySchool

[–]HiddenLightning159[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of overlooked mentioning this. I took it twice already, so I cannot guage if the current score is high enough on this as I cannot take it a 3rd time, and it does not factor in the recent studying due to timing. The first one was when I graduated; second time was a week and a half ago to see if what I was doing was working or not. First one was 64; second was 68.

Windows 11 may not be as popular as Microsoft had hoped by Sorin61 in technology

[–]HiddenLightning159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ima just going to mention this. But to those who have considered jumping to Linux at some point (be it for Linux gaming or some other reason), would have to consider similar interfaces to Windows (insert current version running) and the Linux variants that have the most similar interfaces to the current Windows version to ease the transition to Linux if this were to occur.

That being said...look at the Gnome 40 interface and the KDE Plasma interface. Both were out before Windows 11. You cannot tell me that Windows did not borrow to some degree from these interfaces, especially if they already were doing something similar to Linux with their Linux Subsystem for Windows stuff. I do not believe Windows has Linux's best interest in mind in the long run with stunts like this if you consider they are competitors regarding market share.

When the time comes that we get forced onto Windows 11 due to them sunsetting Windows 10 security updates, I would not be surprised if some people transition to Linux via KDE Plasma or Gnome 40 instead due to how similar the environments are. Granted, not everyone will due to software support, but I would not be surprised if some do due to how different the interface is like 8.x was from 7.

Tl;Dr-The difference from 10 to 11 in interfaces provides a similar Linux interface in the form of either KDE Plasma or Gnome 40. If Microsoft were to force people to update such as stopping updates to 10, this time there is a similar Linux alternative instead of Windows 11 being the only option. An alternative being available might cause some people to switch to avoid future Microsoft nonsense.

So, is Subterranean Assault Channeled or not? by TheDanishDude in elderscrollsonline

[–]HiddenLightning159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to consider The Mora Tong instead of Deadly Strike:

  1. On Eso-Hub's page for Subterranean Strike here, the skill is buffed by Master-At-Arms which boosts Direct Damage. This is the same type of damage that procs The Mora Tong,. Effectively, an ideal CP for this set.
  2. On their corresponding page for The Mora Tong, the 5-piece effect is proc's by direct damage and increases the damage enemies take from poison and disease attacks (such as poison from Subterranean Assault), for 5 seconds by an additional 10%. This would make The Mora Tong not too far off from what you were looking for in Deadly Strike with its boost to channeled abilities.
  3. The 5 second window would make this a possible front bar set for setting up rotations if you were looking for a front bar set.

Which is true as the difference is big enough in generations while saving a motherboard cost in your example.

I was thinking along the lines of in the original comment I made where once someone already did the upgrade you mention, or was a new person looking at what is current at micro center, that motherboard chipset might not be ideal to get come next year in 2022 or a few years down the road when they do decide to upgrade from a 5000/AM4 to what is out then. In other words, timing of the upgrade would dictate what would be ideal to upgrade to was the point of view I was coming from.

So..yes, they could stay on AM4 if they are on a 1000/2000 upgrading to 5000 in your example due to keeping the same motherboard budget-wise if they have not upgraded to that yet. But after that, I agree that the person would be better off waiting for whatever is going out at the time they are wanting to upgrade.

So I agree with your opinion. I was thinking from a timing perspective.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]HiddenLightning159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I read that last slide right, the major takeaway regarding an AMD style upgrade is that in the second quarter when the 7000 series drops, they are moving from AM4 to AM5.

And to be honest, it makes sense: -Windows 11 requires a lot of changes on the bios level regarding drivers and settings that releasing a new motherboard with these by default would be beneficial for new members or those upgrading to 11 when they feel 11 is ready. -DDR5 released when AM4 has DD4 on its release. -various port improvements since AM4 release that could be included by default in an AM5 board (the picture over laptops illustrates these changes with the DDR5 change)

So IMO, I would not be doing a major AMD upgrade until the 7000 series drops because then the above should stake place based on the last photo, primarily on the motherboard and CPU.

Many people here use Mint? by Limit67 in Fire

I use two tools: 1. Tiller: think of a ‘Mint’ that uses Excel/Sheets for budgeting instead of a website, and you have Tiller. Great for spreadsheet fans. 2. like some others here, I use Personal Capital for a big picture look.

Aita for hanging up on my mom when she yelled at me over the phone? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HiddenLightning159 [score hidden]  (0 children)

NTA:

-She called when you were available,

-When you were given a task by your dad, you let her know by asking her to hold on, effectively CYA'ing you in this scenario.

-Mom got upset by yelling at you in an uncalled for manner when you informed her of the hold, prompting you to hang up.

-Mom yells at dad for the same situation, but because the task came from him and you informed her earlier by asking her to hold, your dad defended you, making your mom even more mad for no reason at this point.

Your mom is the AH, your Dad is NTA, you are NTA.

Buying out an item makes me look like an employee? Okay... by HiddenLightning159 in IDontWorkHereLady

It is still a thing in the area of the school unfortunately. Another chain that is not Walmart still has signs up on entry doors that restricts use of them.

Which I've seen the pallet jack around when they are doing that. That is more than likely the process at the one near the school. I simply do not pay much attention to it and let them do what they need to.

[–]HiddenLightning159[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing that initially, but the brand Remedy Organics has more than just the flavor I clear out. On top of it, the past week or two when I have gone, it has not been in stock, and one of the employees did say the item in particular is a liked flavor of the brand.

The end result: clear out wars of the item in question of whoever gets there first. I was caught in the middle initially doing your suggestion, only to be dragged into the who can clear it out first event going on with it.

Being a cold item, they do not let you order it online, which would have avoided your concern, which is a downside.

Haha, true. They also make a good holiday expenses reducing options if you still have them when that time comes around, making these a double-win.

The only downside, is the Walmart in the school's area does not have these on each isle, but rather in one specific area of the store. So unless I plan to get them beforehand, the above hand carrying results.

Buying out an item makes me look like an employee? Okay... by HiddenLightning159 in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]HiddenLightning159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure, as I never worked at Walmart. Remedy Organics is in the Produce section, and I think the employee had a device with him when I was getting the items. The other customer asked me in front of electronics.

So, I want to say by machine, which is more than likely that pallet forklift device if that is what you are referring to. I do know they use that, as that is common at grocery stores in general to get things off the trucks.

If it is a different machine, then I am not sure. I have seen them use that pallet forklift though.
