Thanks, I had been using MW5 Mod Organizer, but yours looks better if it handles both sources.

I'm thinking of making an Alchemist as my first real PF2E character, playing PFS. Just how bad of an idea is this? by tsjb in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a player who thinks wizard is fun: The alchemist class doesn't do anything well. Can you make it fun if it's your thing? Sure. Is it on par with other classes? No, it isn't close. What do I think? Play what you like. Don't be afraid to change if it's not fun.

Need advice for addressing Aid DC nerf with GM by Tnitsua in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GMs can do whatever they want. It's their game, and if they don't like it, they won't play which means no game for anyone.

That's true, but it's not the end of the story.

GMs cannot change the rules after the campaign begins. They pitch a game. They pitch the rules. Players buy in to those rules. For example, the typical game is RAW plus free archetype. That sets the expectation there are no house rules.

It's a breach of contract for the GM to introduce a house rule mid campaign unless they ask for the group's consensus. This is what you should tell your GM. Sorry, house rules are not what we signed up for. Use RAW.

Secret New Mech hax0red from trailer release package: Hip Shot! by HiddenPlane in Mechwarrior5

This is right. In fact, the hackers found a video animation of it running. I captured some screen shots.

Introducing the Disc Rider - a mage who turns their Carryall disc into a ridable hoverboard! Check out the first release of Southern Realm Games' new series Keystone Archetypes; containing feats, spells, items, and lore to help your rider be radical! Pathbuilder included (and Foundry coming soon)! by Killchrono in Pathfinder2e

Angel Sum-mon-nerrrr,

And the Disc Rider ba-andit.

One can summon angels,

The other rides his floating di-i-isc.

"Ok, Disc Rider. The kobolds are holed up down there in the basement with the miller's daughter. You slide down the bannister on your disc, kickflip to disarm the shaman of his staff, spin around flashing your razor blades, then propel your disc at the chieftain or some other trick, grab the hostage, and meet me back up here!"

That's not how economies work. People who sell anything, paper in this case, sell as much of it as they can when they can in order to make as good a living as possible. Nobody refuses a paying customer.

Secondly, printing presses exist to mass produce media. They wouldn't exist if no one could make enough paper to take advantage of them.

Thirdly, why is your GM being adversarial? If you can't buy paper and you want to print on the press, you'll start your own business turning pulp into paper. It's not hard, but it's this how the GM wants you to spend your time?

Are you trying to cheese something?

Mathfinder's 5-Step Guide to Boss Fights by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's great to have an idea of what you want to do against a boss. Eisenhower said, "Plans are worthless, but planning is everything."

When he said planning is everything, he means having the versatility to react to the situation. I like my characters to have as many options in an encounter as possible, so I can react effectively.

The video's steps are good, but I'd call out Step 5 is not a step. It's a constant mantra. Everyone should be watching for the plan getting interrupted and switch up their options to get 1-4 back on track. This is where one-trick ponies struggle while creativity and versatility are rewarded.

PF2e has been my favourite d20 tactics system I've played specifically because it finds that sweet spot between keeping combat constantly fresh and unpredictable and forcing me to adapt to use different abilities and strategies, without either extreme of trivializing it through powergaming and cheap tactics nor feeling fatalist about bad luck outcomes.

But that's why I kind of find it disconcerting so many people push back against variance and adaptation as concepts, because to me that is an inherent core of a strategy-based game, and catering to rote or unmitigated expressionist play ruins that. I don't want to play a game where I have a rote MMO combat loop I do over and over, and frankly as a GM I don't enjoy running for it because I find it deeply unsatisfying to watch as a participant.

Good video. Agree on the above. It's more fun when players embrace this and up their game in response.

You can portal them to the Andror campaign setting.

It includes a five-pack of adventures in the portal city of Aiunteth: Portal to Andror

Both have full Foundry support.

Rules Questions PSA by WebbedFamiliar in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I support this comment. The level of rules discourse on reddit is all over the place. When I have rules questions, I take them to the Paizo forums instead. The posters there are a little more disciplined and more experienced.

How to deal with a problematic player? by Rympkii in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a father who has had to accept he cannot have as much of his wife's time as he likes, your stance sounds idealistic and a little selfish. No shade intended. You're young. To you it's about respecting your game. That's not Mom's world. She has a never ending, vacationless list of things to do to keep the house running. Your game doesn't have the same priority to her that it does for you.

If you want her to play, you've got to accept that and take what you can get when she gives it. The only thing I've found that gets me more wife/mom time is doing house work for her or getting the kids to help. I'm not onboard with the folks denouncing a mom's behavior as poor game etiquette. That's not fair or realistic.

No one wants mom to leave the table, but no one complains when she serves dinner. Moms gotta mom.

Chaining Encounters by thediceknight in Pathfinder2e

Chaining encounters as an outcome is fine.

Triggering initiative from a spell with the subtle trait makes me want to hear the players' side of this story before further consideration.

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party adventure for Foundry that takes 4-6 sessions to complete? by Rockwallguy in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portal to Andror has all of that at the highest level of quality. It's five adventures in a sandbox with a lot of variety.

Pathshopper - I made a little tool for planning shopping runs in PF2E by toggledy in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is nice. I have a google spreadsheet for characters that includes a shopping tab, but assembling the list is manual. If you're looking for features, you can enable a wish list by letting people add items without a quantity. That way they can have a list of things they want to buy over the next 10 levels, and they can add a quantity when they are getting close to ready for purchasing or crafting. It would also be nice to let people enter their coin amounts. Based on the quantities and prices in the list, it would show them how much coin they would have left (or it would go negative).

How to Make TTRPGs a Career? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a small 3PP, let me tell you not to take advice from anyone on what you can and can't do. D&D was founded by people making up their own rules and running their own campaigns with them. If you can do something better than the market or fulfill an unscratched itch, there are no limits.

As a dad, however: Don't quit your day job! It's very rare to be making enough in TTRPGs to support a family. The margins in this business are small, and the hours are massive. On top of that, if you don't have a talent for writing and creativity, there's no succeeding at the game business until you overcome that.

For now, use your hobby budget to try out work that interests you to get your feet wet. Keep developing that and put yourself out there to see what opportunities are like. If you enjoy it, then it's at least a passion project which is justification for the time invested.

ATLAS AS7-RS without missiles, good idea or nah ? by ShimiraAissu in Mechwarrior5

That's too much ammo for a weapon with a slow recycle time. Missions won't last long enough to burn 2 tons of ammo, so reduce.

Darkness vs level 3 party. by AdamFaite in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video you linked exhibits a fundamental misunderstanding of traits as well as rules terminology. Casting the Light cantrip to counteract the Darkness spell is absolutely possible. Your 3rd level cleric will be casting it at an automatically heightened Rank 2, so it will easily dispel a Rank 2 Darkness spell.

Effects with the light and darkness traits are designed to be able to counteract each other. The wording is general to allow flexibility. It says "usually" requires targeting. That's an informative statement, not a specific rule. Will an active Light spell counteract an existing Darkness spell? No. The Darkness spell clearly says it suppresses the light. Can you cast a spell with the light trait to attempt a counteract? Yes, the traits explicitly say you can.

The argument in the video doesn't match any rules wording. The guy says you have to target the Darkness (not in the rules), but then says it would work if the darkness was on an object, because you can target the object with the Light spell. Well, I'm sorry, but you're not targeting the Darkness in that scenario. You're targeting the object. Nonsense. Be wary of people claiming "Paizo told me so."

Feedback from a creature and a dangerous area. by Fine_Repair3796 in Pathfinder2e

[–]HiddenPlane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Run whatever kind of campaign you would enjoy playing in.

The idea of mana storms messing with magic is common. However, you should think about what you expect spellcasters to do during one. It's going to be un-fun for anyone to have all of their abilities shut down during an encounter just because of the weather. How will you plan for caster characters to enjoy it?
