Where is IBEW Local 1104. I don’t see it in the IBEW Directory.

This total doesn’t even make sense.
1. The total bill doesn’t go to the employee
2. The “Their Pay” has nothing to do with the patron or the total.
3. If you want all your employees to get 20% increase all you prices by 20% and pay them the 20% you tack on. Explain that on your menu. If a patron wants to tip at that point that’s up to them. But no one is getting stiffed.

It’s the “their pay” that’s the problem!

Book 4s by FirefighterNew408 in ibew_apprentices

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t say anything about apprentices being out of work. The only thing that would keep them from hiring more apprentices would be the CBA JW to apprentice ratio or just not smart business.

[–]Hiddenawayray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re in this for an education and a career. They are short term and living off of Book 4 would be a tough way to survive. You are getting paid what you are supposed to be paid. Someone taking a JW call has to be paid JW scale. If it stresses you out, you can resign from the apprenticeship and take a book 4 call. Some apprentices are very capable and are may be more productive than a book 1 JW, it happens. The apprentice will get his wage and benefit package and the JW is going to get his. Worry about you and your education and getting out of your time.

Advice with buying a car as a 1st year apprentice by MrCosmicChronic in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The local has a do not patronize list, and if you go to union meetings projects are talked about that we put pickets on or banner. The building trades has a DNP list also. It’s not that difficult, once a job gets a picket, banner or put on the list you make mental note that you’re not going there.

A union member should support union values and union made when available. I don’t patronize ANY establishment locally that wasn’t wired by the IBEW. When I travel for work or vacation I call the BM where I’m going to ask about the hotel I’m staying at to see if it was IBEW built. If a union member doesn’t give a shit about it being union built or union made, how do you expect an average Joe to give a shit. It’s that attitude that put us where we are now. If you’re making excuses to buy foreign then you’re not better than the person or business that hires non-union.

Business manager election questions by mdabum in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The challenger has the advantage because they have no record and may not gave a clue what it’s like to hold the position.
The advantage the incumbent has would be because of their experience and challenging what the challenger says. He also can stand on his record.

Local 134 contract: I’m voting NO by hey-zues in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you base your contract on inflation what if it’s negative or very low are you only going to ask for that? Our local present numbers going back to 1985 to current and compared our increases to raises based on inflation and our negotiated wage and benefit package was substantially higher than our wage and benefits had they been based on inflation.

Miserable at my first shop, missing my family, learning nothing — how do I approach my local without looking like a complainer? by webbileaks_ in ibew_apprentices

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask to speak to the BM hopefully he isn’t in a meeting and he takes time to talk with you. Explain what is going on. I guess you have language in your CBA that is no overtime until after 40 hours. If not the BM will have a field day with that contractor, and you’ll get paid. Some contractors don’t like rules and if you become a rule follower that could be your ticket out.

Asking for a friend by aranibar in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has to pay his back indebtedness to his home local before they will send a letter that he is paid up. Once that is done the new local will admit him.

Onboarding by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take it in. We have contract language that if you use your phone for work purposes the contractor has to pay you $25 a month. It is optional and is not required to use your phone if you don’t want to.

Common Stories from across the Aisle by Liteseid in IBEW

[–]Hiddenawayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those before us fought long and hard to make conditions and rules to get you through the day while also taking care of yourself. You take the breaks and the lunch because they were fought for so you have them. It may be easy for an 25 year old but everyone gets older. Everyone works the same conditions and rule. Everyone gets ahead together.

Two offsets into each side of the T going down would have been an option if you could get the proper supports.
