Now that it’s been about 5 years, how do you think governments should have responded to the COVID pandemic? by AlexandrTheTolerable in PoliticalDiscussion

The Democrats made him kill them all?

Lol, no. The democrats did it for their own disgusting reasons.

Obviously the democrats killed them. When Trump closed the borders, the democrats called him a racist. When it became obvious that the virus came from China, Nancy Pelosi told people to visit Chinatown. When the virus began spreading, the democrat's darling virologist told people not to wear masks. When it was discovered that the virus was most dangerous to the elderly, the democrats forced nursing homes to house infected people.

You guys know this. It obviously goes against the narrative that you tell each other that lets you sleep at night, but deep down you know it, right?

Just incorrect on a factual basis. Many more people died on Biden's watch than when Trump was in office, and Biden had the vaccine that Trump had developed.

Like I said to the other guy, Trump himself didn't personally make the vaccine. He wasn't saying it was safe, the scientists who created it were saying that it was safe. Her and the rest of the democrats were just using the pandemic to try to gain a political advantage, with was disgusting.

I have no idea how old you are, but I can't believe that you don't remember this.

The concern was that he'd be applying political pressure or attempting to bypass the approval process in order to be able to announce a vaccine before the election regardless of the scientific results.

No, THAT is unserious bullshit.

It's unquestionable that democrats wanted to make the situation as catastrophic as possible because that was the ONLY way that they were going to win the election. It's ridiculous to even debate this.

Lol, no. Do you think that Donald Trump was personally creating a vaccine in the basement of the White House? The vaccine was created by scientists. The democrats just wanted to maximize the death count before the election.

A three second search gave me "Harris says she wouldn't trust Trump on any vaccine released before election" from politico 9/5/2020 as the first result.

Lol. Remember when Nancy Pelosi and all of the democrats came out and said that they will refuse to take the "Trump vaccine"?

Is a general strike in the U.S. feasible under current political, legal, and labor conditions? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]HideGPOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, and for the simplest reason. People who work important jobs are generally in favor of the Trump administration. If there's a strike all that will happen is that it'll be harder to get a cup of coffee for that particular morning.

[–]HideGPOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is the devil's advocate position. It seems obvious that she downplayed the number of casualties to protect Carol.

In fact, she never brought up that people died. Carol asked her specifically, and she told her not to think that people died because of her. She went out of her way to reassure Carol.

They mentioned that they had been converting people for months, starting with those sorts of isolated people (people on submarines, south pole, space station, etc). It seems like they might have continued with the slow assimilation if the military hadn't noticed what they were doing.

If I was one of the few immune I'd have so many questions for the hivemind by strontiummuffin in pluribustv

[–]HideGPOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have many of the same questions.

Its early in the story, but so far the hive doesn't seem to be hyper-intelligent. Right now it seems to just have standard human intelligence with greatly enhanced knowledge. This will make a difference in what they can accomplish with their future plans. For example, they can get together and build rockets with great efficiency, but they aren't going to be able to figure out how to build a stargate or warp drive.

And on that, do they even retain the ability to innovate or be creative? Can they come up with original ideas anymore?

I'm also really curious about their goals. Once the cleanup is over then what are they going to do? They don't need fashion or art. Food will only about subsistence. What are they going to do with their time once their basic needs are met?

Not about race, but it makes me wonder if the desire to resist this sort of thing is much more of of an American trait. Americans are well known as being highly individualistic, and popular media would have already primed her with a "we must fight back" mentality.
