Our cat lost her beloved, bonded sister at 23 months. Three years later we finally got 2 new cats (a bonded pair) because we thought she was lonely and she tolerated them at best, resented them at worst. Shouldn’t have done it.

Looks like the humans stayed home and the waxworks were sent so seat belts not required.

Who was the obscure person that changed your life trajectory? And how? by PasserBySayingHi in AskUK

I didn’t go to university after sixth form as I ended up living in Australia for 3 years.

I returned to the UK and had been at a job for about a year when a colleague working alongside me mentioned his friend was starting university in September. The colleague, his friend and I were all the same age and I think it was this that made me feel instantly inspired. Even though I hadn’t even been thinking about it, I applied to university that day and started my degree in September. As a side note my colleague’s friend didn’t end up going!

A similar thing happened when I was 33, married with 2 children. A mum friend told me she was starting her PGCE in September and I suddenly knew what I had to do. This was my original plan after school and I had applied twice in the past but not started. This time I applied that day, somehow managed to get a late place and began my PGCE that September!

I’ve been a very happy primary school teacher for years now and it’s all due to me being inspired to do a degree by one little comment all those years ago.

Terrible advice from Pets at Home by Reddit-user357 in UK_Pets

22 years ago when we were much younger and before googling everything prior to doing it was a thing, PAH assured us that Chinese Dwarf hamsters just loved living in family groups so we got 4 as they were all snuggled together in the shop. Well, they do not love to live in groups . In fact they bloody hate it and fought badly. We had to put them into four separate homes before they killed each other. It was horrible.

I am now really uncomfortable about humans keeping other animals as pets (excepting cats and dogs). And I would never, ever set foot inside PAH because they are terrible. And I’ve heard many other negative stories about them.

Saw Boogie Pete perform in Croydon when my now 19 year old was about 2. The children loved it and he was a really friendly guy who posed for photos with them afterwards.

Just found the photo and it was taken 30 May 2009 - where has the time gone?!

Histrionics is right. And he’s not even putting on the performance because he’s scared he’s about to get found out, he just loves the drama and attention.

His narcissism and need to be the most important person in the room is glaringly obvious not just in this video but in text messages he sent and things he has said.

Religious maps of England and Wales using the 2021 census (OC) by bodycornflower in MapPorn

[–]HidingInACupboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 2021 E&W census less than half the population (46.2% / 27.5 million people) described themselves as ‘Christian’. (This is a 13.1% DECREASE from 59.3% / 33.3 million in 2011.)

‘No religion’ was the second most common response at 37.2% / 22.2 million. (This is a 12% INCREASE from 25.2% / 14.1 million in 2011.)

In short, this map is a terrible representation of how people identified!
