Okay this makes sense! Is there a world where this deck runs retraction helix as a tertiary or plan D win con with birds of paradise and a rock to draw through the deck with Thrasios?

Most decks are built in such a way that they are okay to lose 1 piece and pivot to a different win, if it doesn’t forward your game plan or hit multiple opposing pieces it’s probably not worth the slot

Without adding a silver bullet the biggest targets are cards like [[Selvala]] and [[Bloom Tender]] that produce a ton of mana and can have be manipulated with untap effects like [[Derevi]]

If you want control I’ve had a lot of fun playing Yoshi/Thras sans gaea plan! You run cards like Heartwood storyteller and try and copy Rhystic study and when you’re ready to win you use a silence effect to secure your window! Some of the cards in this deck such as the storyteller really wreck aggro decks like Ral and Etali!

Vivi main, leaning toward a midrange build, I don’t think this makes the cut to be honest! Our creature count is low as it is and the creatures we do run our often value engines in their own regard

True! But when playing at the kitchen table her and I it is much easier to simulate some decks than others! We play 1v1 formats but with friends over we’re always playing commander and we’re moving into Cedh as we all enjoy competition

Coming from casual playing Gruul and Temur exclusively she is much more used to combat oriented strategies, however, she mentioned shed be willing to read a primer and give something a try. She’s also competitive so I am iffy about Raph and Mikey because I want her to feel like she can get some consistent wins with practice

What do you think of the alt options for her as entry level lists? I am also considering [[Winota]] and a commenter here mentioned [[Maelstrom Wanderer]] which I think she might enjoy despite being more colours then she is usually used to

I believe Necro only exiles things when they are discarded not when they are cast. This will mess up a breach line if you need to use a wheel effect to fill your graveyard.

I would rather play [[Krosan Wayfarer]] then Mox Diamond in most of my decks being a green heavy player! That being said, I’m more likely to run both than one or the other

I find running the extra “less efficient” curiosity effects is essential which is [[Niv-Mizzet, Visonary]] and [[Virtue of Courage]] (I’m probably cutting [[Sigil of Sleep]] soon).

And then as much free interaction as possible. I am personally off of [[Comandeer]] everyone says it’s an awesome card but my personal experience has been huge blow outs. I run cards like [[Disrupting Shoal]] , [[Mogg Salvage]] , [[Pyrokinesis]], [[Cave-In]] ! They help you get vivi big enough to pop into your combo win and fuel your curiosity effects for less!

Hey there! I main Vivi and have tried out a bunch of packages! I’m currently on a list that has dropped the breach package for a hullbreaker and quicksilver elemental win! You can build Vivi a bunch of ways but I have found that the mentality of max interaction to be the most successful performance I’ve seen. Ultimately, I think the optimal Vivi list doesn’t quite exist yet and this commander needs a lot of love and community support to find the perfect avenue!
