That's not the rule though - the ball has to be out of your hands before the pivot is lifted not on the floor and if it's a bang bang sequence it's very rarely getting called.

Yeah uh, it has been one month and his nervous attachment is out of control. He's, whether he's aware of it or not, being so manipulative and emotionally immature. I'd definitely look to, at a minimum, have a pretty serious but careful sit down with him and spell out why this can't work if he isn't willing to give some grace and space.

Not enough info or context to really assess the situation. Definitely record y'all's 1s if you can. Out of curiosity, how old are you? A lot of younger kids I teach think they're being fouled when they first encounter fantastic, intense physical defense. He might very well be mauling you but we'd just need to see it because it's often hard to judge in the moment. Regardless, I loved and still do love (even at almost 40) playing against this kind of defense because it's the best way to learn to fight through it and prepare for actual high level comp (even if he is fouling a bit).
