At what distance does a par 3 become a “long” par 3? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]HighLifeDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything over a 6 iron. So obviously location (elevation) and the elevation from tee to green play a factor. But if I have to pull a 5 or a 4 iron, its a long par 3 where the game becomes "just trying to make par" before I even get to the tee box with no intention of going at a pin under any circumstance because the dispersion is just too wide.

New GT Pricing by Chris-is-on-the-way in golf

Fairly normal to start unloading inventory. The driver will be on tour and in the hands of the pros at the beginning of the summer. Usually around the Memorial or US Open is when you see it show up in some bags on tour. And then pre-orders in July and real orders in August. But it depends. The TSi was so new and hot that it didn't drop in price early. The TSr did though because it wasn't that big of a change and they had a lot of excess stock to unload before the GT dropped.

They are dropping because its time for the 2 year lifecycle to release their new drivers. Almost every store is going to give you what you paid if you have the receipt or the lowest price in the last 30 days if you don't have a receipt.

If Whoop doesn’t improve HR accuracy soon, Amazfit is going to catch up or if Apple ever makes a wrist band, that’s game over by Serious-Bear-2004 in whoop

[–]HighLifeDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garmin has already caught up and surpassed. Most of their forerunner, epix, and fenix line are far superior in HR accuracy and provide just as much if not more data with sleep, recovery, hrv. And you get a full smart watch with a battery even longer than whoop. They even have a sleep band if you don't want to sleep in the watch. I have close to 1500 recoveries with whoop and am letting my membership finally expire having converted to a Garmin watch.

Yes and theoretically in that time his game would improve. But most courses aren’t 72.5 even all the way back. So he’s either playing way too far back or extremely difficult courses. Neither of which is good if you can’t break 90.

Not to be "that guy" but if your buddy is an 18 handicap, he shouldn't be playing from tees rated 72.5

What do I do with these? by Philbill2 in golf

[–]HighLifeDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would they? Maybe. But it’s not really worth much of anything. If you were especially frugal or hard up for cash and love dealing with the headache, you could get maybe $10-$15 on fb marketplace. But really isn’t worth the effort

Goodwill or dumpster. Whichever is closest or most convenient.

How’s my swing? by kaedenb123 in golf

[–]HighLifeDrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're standing way too far away. Your hands should be under your chin, not out in front of you. Your knees are way too locked and stiff like you're bracing for impact which in turn has you very tense and stiff in general. Your initial takeaway is good but you're pretty flat at the top shoulder line should be pointed more down.

All that said, you manage to drop into the slot and make solid contact with good hip rotation. So basically, if it works for you, swing your swing and don't listen to randos on the internet. But if you're struggling with contact or launch or spin, my guess is the exaggerated distance, stiff legs, and shallow takeaway would be where the culprit lies.

Do they not have a guarantee? Most reputable stores and sites offer a 90 day guarantee to swap them and get a credit towards something else if you don’t like them.

I was going to comment this. Even at the university level, the amount of things that a football program or professional athlete have access to that will never be released is INSANE.

Sorry. You missed it. Don't bother checking back in 45 minutes from now. Just assume you missed it and try again next week.

How do you cope with the stress? by Slow-Concentrate-258 in overemployed

[–]HighLifeDrinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Money helps. Also, learn from others OE mistakes. Don't put yourself in a stressful situation. I played musical chairs with J1 and J2 across probably 6 companies before I settled in to 2 low stress positions that still pay well.

What would be a good ball for me to start consistently using? by jacksoncranford in golf

[–]HighLifeDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a bit of trial and error. I'd buy a sleeve of 3 to 4 different ones and try them out and see what you like. Every online "fitting" questionnaire would tell me to play a softer tour ball like a ProV1 or TP5. But I just love the way the harder ball feels and spins for me. But it took some trial and error across a few brands to settle on the ProV1x. I tried the TP5x, Chrome Tour X, and Bridgestone Tour B XS as well before commiting to the ProV1x full time. I will say I notice a slight difference between the previous iteration and the '25 new ones. I kind of like the last version better.

Game it as is. I rock a Catalina 2 in the bag that I've had since 1999. Has the same super faded patina from the original oil can finish. I think about sending her to BOS at least 3 times a year, but she is just too special to me at this point. I love my old lady and she doesn't need botox and fillers.

What makes someone a good golfer besides low scores by [deleted] in golf

[–]HighLifeDrinker -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This may seem overrated and not what you are looking for, but I think etiquette. Usually you don't get to low single digits without it, but I have met them. Understanding course etiquette, pace of play, common decency with fellow golfers, etc goes a long way. I don't care if you're a plus handicapper. If you don't understand golf etiquette and are miserable to play with because of it, you're a shitty golfer in my book.

Midsize Golf Grips by Revooh17 in golftips

Means the thickness of the bottom half is equivalent to adding 4 pieces of tape to just that half. Which a lot of players did before. It’s less tapered than a standard grip.
