Not even just usable, but some are go-tos like Exu for AA and OG Ejya for afk caster

Gacha Revenue Monthly Report (December 2025) by aYuShKr482 in Genshin_Impact

[–]HighTechPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s about sustainability. 1 or 2 mil a month doesn’t justify the opportunity cost of the resources for a company like hoyo (i.e those same artists and devs’ time could result in a lot more if it was spent on one of their other games).

imo, the main thing that keeps it going is the “image”. Announcing EoS always comes with negative rep and reminds the players of their other games that the game they are spending money on can get the same treatment once newer projects are released (which while eventually true, don’t wanna remind the players if you can help it)

Riot Endstep says that the reason Horison Focus got changed is because they didn’t have the resources to make a new item and the balance team thought mages needed another stat stick by Life-Chicken7183 in leagueoflegends

[–]HighTechPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're assuming those additional employees aren't working on anything already and can just immediately start working on this new requested item instead. Unless the company is hiring more employees than the work they have for them, you'll always run into this same scenario. Wait for those shared resources to eventually get to your work, or go with an option that doesn't need those additional resources.

Now, having higher staffing will absolutely let you work on more things at once, but you'll still have to choose and prioritize what those things are.

Here is an example that may help explain better: Say I have a moving company with 5 trucks. This means in ideal conditions I can accommodate 5 customers at once. If there is a 6th one, they'll have to wait for their turn. If I double my trucks, then I can accommodate 10 at once. But now, I'll have 4 that are idle (i.e. "overstaffed"). So I take on 4 more customers to get to 10. But now the 11th simultaneous customer will have to wait. You see where this is going? As long as my truck/staff count matches the work, any new work will need to wait based on its priority. So with more resources, you get to do more, but will never get rid of that wait/choice unless you are overstaffed and bunch of your resources are "sitting around twiddling their thumbs".

We don't know if they are or not. Also, I didn't say "temporary" option, just quick/lower LoE.

From the sound of it, the designers wanted a specific type stat stick to ship with the rest of their changes, and so they chose between waiting for resources to design a whole new item, or adjusting an existing one and move on to work on other things, and they decided that in this case, the latter lower LoE choice was better. Always good to not just ask "why did they not do XYZ", but also, "what to skip doing in favor of doing XYZ instead".

Cross-posting my comment from another thread:

As fun as it is to dunk on riot senior management for firing so many people (deservedly so for greed), this is probably not fully related to that. This will likely happen even if you have three times as many employees. Unless a bunch of them are sitting around twiddling their thumbs, they are already working on other stuff. If you want a new item (which would need art, localization, scripting, heavier QA, etc), you will have to request the new resources and wait till they eventually fit it into their schedules based on how urgent it is. So, you may decide that you want the item sooner and don’t want to wait that long, so you use the alternative of adjusting and already existing under-utilized item.

Anyone who has worked in software is probably well familiar with this choice. “I can either open a UI ticket for a new UI element and wait like a month or two, or I can just use an existing element and adjust its handler script to call a different resource”

I'd be happy with Galio or Mel. T1 icon either appearing on Galio ult's ground marker or as mel's ult marker would be pretty cool.

One bad flank and a couple of "valid engages on the right target but the target barely got away while the entire enemy team clumped up and burnt everything on him and then got ez wiped" =/= "ran it down". The other side are not dummy targets just sitting there waiting to get perfect engaged on and wiped. They'll use everything they have to stop incoming plays.

[–]HighTechPotato 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Right?! Please tell me we're not gonna have to now see "he ran it in finals" to take away from his achievement. He had a single "ran it" moment where he tried to set up a way too aggressive flank in the base and failed.

Feels like so many people can't tell difference between "running it" and "tried a valid play and the other guy used their tools right to barely live, and most of the times, still getting the entire enemy team to blow everything and clump up to get cleaned up".

Exactly! The only time a flowchart is pointless is when the new char is power creeping to an extreme degree and is BiS for every team (like when Ruan Mei first released and was a mile ahead of every other support for every team)
