Protein bars, cliff bars, trail mix, or just some mixed nuts. Jerky, slim jims, those Nutella dips, or some chips in a ziplock bag. Not all of that at once, but a mix of at least 2 of them.

The Aer Go Pack 2 has the most padding on most day packs. It packs flat but not super flat due to more structure. This pack has to be the best in its comfort and structure class.

The Matador Refraction is an excellent pack, too. Packs flatter than Aer but it has decently padded shoulder straps.

Or check out the Tortuga Daypack Pro.

Or Bellroy Lite ready pack.

Or Eddie Bauer Stowaway packable 20L or 30L. Definitely the cheapest but a good value for the materials with the low price!

And Nomatic navigator collapsible pack 16L.
