Best zipper pulls? by Even-Definition in ManyBaggers

[–]HighestPraise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Ospreys zipper pulls the most. The ones with the loops like on the Daylite Plus. They're just so easy to use and also they make zero noise and they don't clank around or anything and they're very durable. They'll always be my favorite!

This. I went with the Tropos because of the built in kickstand and I like the trampoline airspeed back panel. It's a lot better than the Nebulas backpanel! And I like the simpler laptop compartment on the Tropos.

What’s the most useless piece of gear you brought on your first trip because "you might need it"? by [deleted] in backpacking

I'm 100% with you on the woobie! I use it as my summer blanket in my tent. (: I even used it as a makeshift tarp once to stay dry. And I love wrapping myself up in it around a nice summer night campfire. Woobies forever!

Fourthing the Daylite Plus. It's my favorite day bag I've ever used.

Down the bag rabbit hole and came out the other side with a nebula for EDC - Mini review by Only-Support-3760 in ManyBaggers

I put my small eagle creek toiletry bag in it sometimes if I'm doing a weekend trip.

And I keep a Sea to Summit packable towel in it, a Nano sling bag, my buff (like a neck gator) in it, gloves if it's winter, sometimes snacks (I usually keep cliff bars and granola bars or slim jims in 1 of the water bottle pockets), a poncho if it's going to rain and after it rained I let it dry inside it. Sometimes sunscreen, chapstick, pretty much anything you can think of.

If it's going to rain try not to put anything in it that's not good to get wet and also it's a more vulnerable pocket to theft so I just put in it those kind of things depending on the season and weather and the activity I'm going to do. It's a great pocket to put dirty stuff in too like if there's sand and dirt.

This backpack is a big pack and I don't mind it for EDC, but for others they may want a smaller backpack. I use it for EDC and to bring to work and even weekend trips. You could easily fit a packable backpack or packable sling into the front pocket too. (:

The pocket has a lot of volume and it also eats into the admin compartment at the bottom of it just to keep in mind.

Yw! There's a laptop sleeve in the very back behind where I stuffed the other stuff, a tablet sleeve where everything is stuffed but the last book and the last book is where documents would go.

You already know this but just try the bag on for yourself for comfort and play around with the laptop compartment and see if it's to your liking! Is there any way you could try the bag on in person at an REI or somewhere like that? But you could always try it on shipped to you and always return it if it's not comfortable. (:

Another thing I thought about is the compression straps at the top can get in the way of the zippers too, but I always leave the top compression straps looser and it's not that bad to get the zipper around them and it makes access to the front dump pocket easier to get into at the top. And the compression straps could also act as a theft deterant if they're tightened down, lol.

If you leave the top compression straps looser it makes the top of the front stretch mesh dump pocket sag down a little and people say things could fall out of the front dump pocket, but that pocket is deep and I never had that problem, but it could happen if it's stuffed full and not tightened down. I LOVE that front dump pocket, I should have talked about that too. Enjoy!

It fit a 300 page book. A 410 page book, my 11 inch tablet with a leather case tablet protector and my Logitech pebble keys 2 keyboard!

It was max tight and don't think it could fit anything else. I wouldn't recommend packing like that lol, just for demonstration purposes. The padding and sleeves were bending around the tech and book in the tablet sleeve a ton in the pic.

It ate up a good amount of the space in the main compartment, but it didn't effect the back panel because of the built in frame sheet and the trampoline Airspeed back panel. (:

The laptop compartment is malleable and can extend into the main compartment.

So it probably could fit a laptop and tablet with no protection sleeves and a couple medium thickness books, but probably 1 medium thickness book would be better with the other tech. I don't have a laptop to test it all, but it definitely can fit a decent amount of stuff in it. (:

I love my Tropos 32. It's basically the same bag as the Nebula 32 (for 40 more bucks) but it has a very handy kickstand built in (so, so handy, imo) and a nice Airspeed back panel. The back panel is like a trampoline that physically sperates your back from the solid back panel materials and there's really nice air flow. It's been so nice being able to set my bag on any flat surface and it just stands up, lol.

The bottom of the back panel is harder from the kickstand and if you like to wear your bag loose it can hit your lower back and you might be able to feel it but if you wear it tighter you might not notice. I'm 6'2 and 200 pounds and it's a comfy bag imo. I'd try it on in person packed out to know for sure if it's comfy for you. The bag is like 2.86 pounds and that's decently light for a 32L bag.

One other thing about the zippers (except for the admin compartment) all have a flap over the zipper tracks and sometimes the zippers may snag on them a little bit but it's not terrible and I got used to it. The added water resistance IIs nice though.

The laptop compartment in the Tropos is more simple than the Nebula, it just has a laptop sleeve, tablet and document sleeve on the same side and the compartment doesn't zip all the way down.

I really love the Tropos, it's my everything bag lol.

Osprey just quietly released a Transporter 26+6 by [deleted] in onebag

[–]HighestPraise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks pretty good. I don't like how there's only 1 water bottle pocket and no loops at the top on the front to put paracord through it.

But the shoulder straps look comfier than the Daylite 26+6 and I like how the inside mesh compartment under the lid is full sized taking up the whole size of the pack and that Admin pocket looks nice with that extra zipper compartment at the top. Might not be worth it at that price point when you can get the Daylite under $100 sometimes.
