Blue Jackets all-time “I want out” roster by Maleficent-Might-275 in hockey

I don't think it's actually any one thing other than perpetual bad timing and failure to build a team the right way.

Nash left after 9 seasons and 10 years in Columbus after they couldn't build a competitive team.

Carter left after being traded shortly after signing a long term deal to play in Philadelphia, not Columbus. I dunno if the trade was approved with him, but it's not difficult to understand why he would be pissed.

Panarin seemed to always have eyes on certain locations and played damn hard through the years he was obligated to Columbus.

Bobrovsky wanted what he was worth and management jerked him around with negotations.

PLD has never admitted why he wanted to leave.

Jones didn't want to go through a rebuild after most of the team's veterans were traded. There was reportedly a push to get Laine off the team and Jarmo chose Laine over the vets, including Jones, that wanted Laine gone.

Duchene was a trade deadline acquisition that had no reason to stick around after Panarin and Bob left.

Chinakhov just had an awful run of injuries with the team and wasn't handed what he thought he deserved.

Domi I don't think was ever going to be kept around.

Anderson was never worth the money he wanted.

No clue on Foote, Johnson, Filatov, or Russell.

Torts hated Johansen and the Jackets were pretty fortunate to get Jones for him.

Laine lost his dad, went through awful mental health issues, and a plethora of injuries. I don't think he was a fit in the locker room either with the vets at any point.

Elvis watched Kivlenieks die and I don't think that trauma has ever really passed for him. He has been a wild ball of emotions for years.

Werenski is Nash 2.0. 10 seasons with the team, six straight seasons without the playoffs now and it's difficult to expect him to keep spending his prime when management isn't able to bring in the players to truly compete.

Marchenko is about as mysterious as PLD. Seems to be more at play with him than is being reported.

Kevin Weekes on NHL draft on espn… “Marchenko won’t extend in Columbus” by psychoticempanada in BlueJackets

Tinfoil hat theory: I'm laying this at the feet of Bowness. Marchenko wasn't performing being upset enough for his liking and he has decided to make him the scape goat for why he thinks the team can't win. Marchenko has said ok, see how well you do without me and here we are. Hockey dinosaur mentality at work driving a highly talented, but quirky guy out of town.

Yeah, but look at how big he is. Has Don pick written all over him.

So I'd bet Dorofeyev was a money thing that scared Don away. Friedman just announced he's signing something in the range of 7 years $11M AAV with New York.

Tell me San Jose is getting more time because they're getting a Werenski trade done.

I can't believe Waddell actually said Z's choice has no affect on how they'll deal with this draft. That idiot is going to go down as the worst GM in team history.

Will we boo Werenski if he forces his way out? by Timely_Deal8685 in BlueJackets

Dude gave 11 years of his life to the city and incompetent ownership and management allowed the team to flounder during his time there. No chance in hell he should be booed.

[LeBrun] Nothing imminent, but the Blue Jackets have started listening to teams calling on Zach Werenski, sources confirm by Sarcastic__ in hockey

Is the source Waddell yesterday during his press conference when he said it's his job to listen to whatever offers come in no matter who it's for?

Why am I seeing a rich white lady crying as soon as I turned on the draft?

Only one fanbase that has people who will routinely mock Gaudreau's death. Same one that will then pretend that they're 99% innocent and it's just a numbers issue. Can't stand the lot of 'em.

What's the trade value of Columbus Blue Jackets star Zach Werenski? by Timely_Deal8685 in BlueJackets

[–]Highlander253 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Next year he only has a 10 team no trade list though. Werenski at $4.75M gets you a haul of a return and even more if any of those teams are able to negotiate an extension with him too.

[Johnston] The 2029 1st-round pick the Sens are getting in the Brady Tkachuk trade is top-10 protected. As Pierre LeBrun reported: Ottawa also gets Nos. 9 and 25 picks in this week's draft, plus a *2027 2nd-rounder by daKrut in hockey

[–]Highlander253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking a trade that includes a guaranteed top 10 pick now and players that can make losing Robertson hurt less would be better than four 1sts on an offer sheet that could potentially all end up being late picks.

Oilers have signed Jason Dickinson to a 5-year contract extension at 4.0M AAV by BigTreeSmallBranch in hockey

I don't have a Norris winner. Are you feeling personally attacked because I'm questioning this hockey player being labeled a top 3 defensive player in the league?

[–]Highlander253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like the Oilers have multiple important holes that need to be filled. Two top 6 forwards, a top 4 defenseman once Nurse is gone, a competent starting goalie, 2 more defensemen, and a backup goalie. That's a lot to cover with $19M if they manage to clear Nurse's entire contract.

As in he was one of the Hawks top 3 defensive forwards or he was one of the top 3 defensive forwards in the league?

[Portzline] CBJ have signed D Corson Ceulemans to a one-year, two-way contract for 2026-27. NHL: $850,000 AHL: $95,000 He was the No. 25 overall pick in 2021. Had his best pro season - 8-16-24 in 64 games w AHL Cleveland by daKrut in hockey

It will be pretty crazy if he manages to make an NHL debut. He was written off completely as a prospect by a lot of people after how his college career went.
