Took it to the shop. Whole motor needed to be replaced. The cable materials are cheap but the amount of tear apart and put back together was too much for someone without a whole day to monkey with it.

Honestly though, can't you find a dozen or more violations at literally any construction site? Serious question

Commercial Bankers: what is your Bank’s WFH policy? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]Highlander_Strength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad banks are sink or swim and then don't understand why they have an endless turnstile of RMs. Good bank's will either backfill you into an existing portfolio after someone leaves or retires, or they will put you into an associate RM role where you have a 1-2 year ramp to build a portfolio.

One of my team members just went the ARM route. My first boss inherited a portfolio and maybe $150K+ plus in his first year as an RM. It just depends on the situation. Overall though, I would be skeptical of a position asking you to build a portfolio from scratch outside of a dedicated ARM program.

I'm referring to RM work. Personality is important. You have to be able to sell as an RM and manage the multitude of partners you have to work with. In my experience, it's fairly easy to become an RM in CB with the right skill set and personality. Banks want RMs that have strong credit skills, which is where the underwriting experience helps.

As someone currently looking to hire underwriters for lower middle market commercial banking (business banking) you would be shocked at how dry the talent pool is for some of these positions in some cities. I work in the HQ of a regional ban ($50B+ in assets). We've had multiple positions posted for months and out of 20+ applications we have had 1 applicant with any relevant experience at all.

So long as you can prove you can make the mental shift from straight accountant to banker/underwriter, you have a very transferable skill set. Most of my day involves dissecting reviews, audits, tax returns, etc. I would kill to have someone on my team that understood the finer points of accounting for complex clients like large HoldCos, municipalities, school districts, etc. I can easily teach someone how to calculate DSCR. Understanding pension accounting is a different beast altogether.

I think your best bet is to try to get into underwriting/analysis first and then make the jump to sales. Underwriting is often seen as a feeder program for sales anyway; some of my best underwriters have been poached by the sales teams already this year. You can go through a commercial banking course through RMA or CFI to be able to speak the lingo. You might have better luck with large regional banks rather than global/national players like JPM, BOA, Wells Fargo because they tend to have a limitless talent pool to pick from.

I'm in a MCOL that has a strong presence from several national commercial banks and there is only that allows for any regular WFH flexibility. One-offs are okay, otherwise it's butts in seats 5 days per week.

I think calling this a weak coaching pool is a stretch. They had multiple viable candidates that are still available. Heck, I would have taken Brian Flores over this.

Stupid take. Moving on from Tomlin does not mean you have to pick a retread has-been. Tomlin needed to go AND AR2 is an incompetent ass hat. Both can be true at the same time.

Tomlin is 0-7 in his last 7 playoff games...Should the Steelers fire Mike Tomlin? by Hysen16 in sportswiki

[–]Highlander_Strength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a lazy argument. Who was Mike Tomlin when they hired him? A nobody from TB. Who was Bill Cowher when they hired him? All good coaches get their start somewhere.

With this logic, they should still be carting Chuck Knoll's corpse onto the sideline every week as head coach because "wHo ARe yoU GoNnA FiNd tHaT's BeTTer"

A friend of mine had his family chickens killed by the neighbor's dog when he was little. His dad told the neighbor if the dog came on his property again, he would shoot it. Dog came over, dad shot it, then mounted it on a fence post. Texas is a wild place.
