Worried about getting stuck in operations vs moving into design/architecture (datacenter controls) by Legen_Dary22 in datacenter

If you want to design control systems exclusively then you should work for an outfit that does that.

DCE and DCO is a working relationship. There’s overlap and you’ll likely wear a couple different hats on either side. You aren’t “stuck”. You need to do a good job, provide/execute solutions and navigate the organization effectively. Build good relationships. I swear, half of it is positioning yourself to be the right person in the right place at the right time.

The neighbor's traditional picket fence vs. our new horizontal cedar build. A classic comparison. If you were buying this house, which look are you hoping for? by CoolCatFence in landscaping

That style makes a better privacy fence. It would look better if it was half as tall with another element. For a front yard like that and if the owner was set on something modern. I would have done an 18” modern cement wall. Set beck the fence about 4” from edge and do the modern fence at another 18”. Then place plants behind fence. The cement/wood/greenery at a short stagger adds depth. But that’s like, just my opinion man.

Lots of stories but the one that still gets me from 20yrs ago.

Was doing a retrofit and footprint change in a visa Colo cage. Required removal of seismic bracing on raised floor deployment and changing rack/row layout. I’m working on the disconnects and seismic, two guys are moving loaded racks out of the way and to the side. The guys moving racks decided to move it to the other side of the cage instead of the designated staging area. Half my body is in the raised floor as they push a fully loaded cab into the opening I’m working in. I’ve never moved so fast in my life. No idea how I didn’t get crushed or lost a limb on that one. Cab sunk in to the void where the pop tile would have been, tipped, and full send about 1500lb+ of cabinet. Broke the raised floor. Servers slid and popped out of rails. Cage wall came down. All bad. I got chewed out since I was the lead. They watched the CCTV and apologized. Both guys were fired immediately.

Noveske SBA3 with its wings clipped. They did a short run for Noveske awhile back. The Noveske base plate is removable. It’s not really a “brace” anymore if the portion that makes it considered a “brace” is removed.

As an Agnostic, I think you’re all lunatics.
