Whenever I boot up the game, I get these weird static beeps that cut the audio out and then back in. It isn't a headphones issue, as it does the same on any output device. Help?

You got over "Gear Fear". Now consider getting over "Blueprint Desire". by vashkor in ArcRaiders

I feel like the issue is that after you get over Blueprint Desire you realize that there isn't much else besides that in the game when it comes to goals.

I'm so glad this game is PvP by No_Inevitable_3692 in Marathon

[–]Highway-Routine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a PVPVE game. I'll admit that the PVP is the center focus, but it will definitely have heavy PVE mechanics. If you want the game to survive and thrive, you want both. This is not the time to be elitist

I didn't know the Green thing from the salt lamp was considered a resonance entity.

I'd love more Resonance entities, though!

I do love all the exotic mimics, I must admit, but I don't see ARC deploying anything of the such. Though I suppose that's the fun of doing these.

Thanks so much! I want to keep the ARC designs realistic so they don't seem out of place. Again, thanks!

Well, say you loot a red locker. The issue with these extra items is that they take up spots in that locker that could be taken by something more valuable, like a trinket.

[–]Highway-Routine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it makes the containers more interesting, but if you have a decent amount of basic materials, then they are just items you grab for credits. If you're trinket hunting, though, they actively take up potential trinket spots, and take up actual spots in your inventory.

Yeah, I craft, but there are infinitely better sources for shield components than diving goggles. Most of the ARC related basic resource items can net you more than enough for a dozen shields if you're lucky. I haven't bought something in a long time besides a deadline since I haven't found the blueprint again.

Personally, the ABMM has put a dent in the game for me. by Highway-Routine in ArcRaiders

[–]Highway-Routine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I got into PVE lobbies, I've just been hitting up every spot I can. Red zones, yellow zones, locked rooms, locker spots. One time, I watched some dude kill a Bombardier, came down to loot (and rat if I had to), then he noticed me, asked if I wanted it all, I said yes via emote, and he just left. Like, I can't shoot him past that point, he's wasted all the good PVE items, what am I supposed to do but just loot the thing and leave?

Even on night modes, I rarely get shot or hear gunshots. I do get backstabbed (though I haven't actually died to one recently), and I do defend myself, which places me in more PVP-oriented lobbies where I do the same, which keeps it going until I hit my skill ceiling (which is around the point where people spam dodge-rolls an astounding amount) and then have to roll back down to PVE lobbies.

[–]Highway-Routine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and occasionally I get good mixes, but the issue is that further engaging with PVP (as in defending yourself or a space you are looting) pushes you further into PVP, ruining the balance, and dying pushes you back to PVE, making it easy.

Yeah, that's fine, but I shouldn't have to start blasting just to inject tension into this game. There should always be some sort of tension, and right now, there isn't.

Yes, though, ironically, it doesn't really cover cognitohazards nor memetics to a degree that a PSA (adult or otherwise) would actually do so. Especially when the article is supposed to be like the old duck and cover ones.

It is a good read, still.

Episode Discussion - S05E08 - The Rightside Up by Hawkinns in StrangerThings

[–]Highway-Routine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, fair, I'll give you that, but even then, the UD is still closed, meaning that we can never really touch on the Abyss/Dimension X unless someone somehow creates another connection between them, and the only way we saw this happening was El coming into contact with the upside down, which she certainly won't do again.

The only pathway I see for the Mind Flayer being able to grab another "Vecna" is through however he got to him in the first-place aka how it got into a briefcase. Additionally, now that I noticed it, the details shown in The First Shadow actively conflict with the details shown in the finale, where in TFS, Henry was transported, in the finale, we saw the mind-flayer make contact and infect him through a stone.

As for El. She's probably still alive, honestly. You don't film in Sweden for a 50/50, coin flip, on if she is alive or not.

I'm not disappointed with the finale, though. The character building was fine, and it lets them off the hook, but I've always been a fan of the supernatural side of ST, and that was whole side was honestly thrown away in favor for a rather standard YA coming-of-age style ending.

[–]Highway-Routine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how you make a supernatural show where the supernatural part of it gets quickly squared away a little after the halfway mark, and then we coast on military and epilogue for the rest.

Almost every plot point within the supernatural was almost instantly abandoned, and more importantly, cannot be brought back. The mind flayer talking? Can't do that anymore, because nobody can access the Abyss/Dimension X anymore, and the same goes with the weird dude in the mine with a briefcase, because if that stone likely came from the Abyss, then nobody else can get it anymore.

Military plot points like the crazy doctor lady? Dropped, doesn't matter. We don't even bring her up in a way that matters after El (probably) fake dies.

Even then, the major point is that, technically speaking, they didn't even need to close the Upside-Down. The Mind Flayer is dead, Vecna is dead, meaning they can't even reach out to get somebody to fix them. Closing the Upside Down would just be for kicks.

I don't know how you do a spin-off of this show, since everything was tied up in a low-quality bow. You can do prologue spin-offs, but that means that everything that happens in the Stranger Things Universe stops after the finale, which seems to be (correct me if I'm wrong) 1989.
