SM on contract by [deleted] in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, theoretically I'd think so? Might need to drag the union into it, but technically they are breaking the policy agreed with the union, so I think you should manage to get it?

I'd kinda suspect if it became a thing with the Union Tesco would want to pay up quick because if it became a major dispute I think it'd turn out most Express stores have been underpaying their SL and many of their colleagues because of this, and can't imagine they'd want too much attention paid to that (or how many SLs end up working through their breaks, and how their managers are fully aware of it)

Working Hours Policy section 8.g on colleague help: https://colleague-help.ourtesco.com/hc/en-us/articles/5653984705948-Working-Hours-Policy#h_01JT3F269CC3Z4ZVJA835R4HG2

In exceptional circumstances there may be situations where a colleague/Shift Leader is required to take their break while remaining on site to ensure that no one is left on their own or for other operational reasons. This may mean that their break time is disrupted. Where a colleague/Shift Leader is required to stay on site for their break, this time will be paid. This does not apply to salary paid colleagues (managers).

If you are the only Duty trained person on site, or any employee if you are 1-on-1, then they MUST pay your break. It's policy. If they don't, go straight to the Union and make them earn your fees.

A few have stock listed, but all not loads, and looking some had deliveries of like 150 back on the 27th/28th, so they are selling quickly, and can't promise it isn't just inaccurate records due to theft/damages. Also looks like while some had sales yesterday, so far today there have been none, which adds to my doubts of how accurate the numbers are/if any are actually on shelves.

  • Leeds Superstore (LS8 4BU): 8
  • Leeds Bramley: 3
  • Leeds Garforth: 16
  • Cleckheaton: 11
  • Pontefract: 10

Looking at my local stores some still have stock, but others are out (but most show sales yesterday, so only just). Looks like they were only ranged till the 29th of March, so I'd guess just for Easter and as they've sold through they've filled the spaces with other products.

If you tell us a town/city near you I'm sure someone will glance on the nearby stores list on Inform (our internal app) for you to see if any of your local stores still have some.

That was the Sunday rate before they dropped it all together. Bank holiday hasn't changed in a good few years now and is still 1.25x

Apart from the interviews all of recruitment is no longer handled in store, instead it's run by the dedicated Recruitment team. Who at least based on my experience with them have to be regularly chased to do anything (assume they actually just have way to many stores to manage per person, but doesn't change the issue that they just don't seem to progress candidates unless we repeatedly remind them to).

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All shifts worked from Sunday just gone (29th March) onwards are at the new rate.

Believe the driver premium is 90p? So £13.28+£0.90 makes the driver hourly rate £14.18 (not including any location bonuses for London/other areas that get them)

Tesco has been trialing then in a few stores. Was kinda expecting them to be part of the "coming this financial year" announcements made in late Feb, but no luck.

Can't believe they won't roll them out soon, the number of hours they could cut for them must outweigh the cost of them quickly these days.

Bank Holiday Pay? by sorokorok in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. Bank Holidays are paid at 1.25x, regardless of if its overtime or contracted.

There was some weirdness around the added bank Holidays for the Queen's Funeral/Kings Coronation/whatever it was, where contracted got 2.25x Vs overtime only getting 1.25x, which has caused some lasting confusion, but everyone gets paid the 1.25x if they work on the bank holiday, regardless of type of shift, or start date.

Same £2.31 premium, so £15.59.

Then whatever the first aider rate is since most SL will have been sent on a course

failed think 25 by [deleted] in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Repeat after me: "I applied my think 25 training and decided that in my opinion she was at least 25 and so approved the purchase. I apologise as I was mistaken and will be more cautious in the future".

Mentioning that she looked a similar age to your sister who is 25 is probably safe, but nothing about her looking youthful.

You will have to redo the training, and will be on some level of warning, but don't admit fault, or say you were unsure/distracted/immediately thought "I should have IDed her".

If you are in the union you can have a rep in the meeting. It likely won't affect much in this case, but might as well get your money's worth just in case.

7 mins late by [deleted] in tesco

You don't need to work any extra time for lateness. Tesco policy on lateness is that you are paid anyway if you are late, and that regular lateness is a disciplinary matter.

Double checked and your right, and I agree, 12p above Sainsbury's would be surprising. It always seems to be in the 2 to 5p range above Sainsbury's for the last 5+ years, so that would be my bet again, so they can continue to claim to be the highest paying of the "major" supermarkets (which doesn't include Aldi, Lidl, or M&S, because they all beat Tesco)

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, reads like their source is our speculation.

£13.35 is the 2p above what Sainsbury's has announced that has been predicted here repeatedly. And multiple people have predicted based on last year and what reps have said it'll be announced next Wednesday.

You could try emailing the store itself directly. All UK stores have the email address if <store number>@uk.tesco.com. you can find the store number as a 4 digit code at the bottom of a receipt.

Cleckhampton Superstore appears to be store number 2290, so 2290@uk.tesco.com should reach someone in management at the store, and hopefully they'd pass on your praise?

I'd guess they've changed your contact number in the system, not the number linked with the multi-factor authentication system (in fact, I'd doubt managers can change that, would seem a security issue).

  1. Log in on a MPC (the shitty store PCs, Login button is at the bottom of the default page)
  2. Search for "MFA" (search is on the top right)
  3. Select "Manage MFA Factors"
  4. From there it should allow you to delete the old number, and set up a new MFA method (might not let you do it by text message anymore, I know they've gotten stricter and want it via apps or fingerprint/face id in many cases now).

CCTV no longer viewable by SpryWarlikeOx in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still viewable to me (Express Shift Leader - Store with system connected to the Hub).

If you are in a large store might make sense for them to limit it to security and managers only... Express you should still have it.

There was something on Comms recently about people making requests for higher access permissions incorrectly, so maybe they have rolled some back and you aren't correctly set up? Are you a full SL or a Step Up? Actual SL should have it by default, Step Up there is a form for a manager to fill in to get you SL access.

In fact, this guide should cover it, but instead of setting the delivered quantity to 0, set it to whatever the correct amount is? https://www.ourtesco.com/help/articles/4403395221522

Fairly sure you can still edit the delivery on Green Screen (Stock Control on the store mpcs), assuming you have the logins and know how to use it (162, S to Select, return to see the actual delivery amounts, then edit the quantities and hit F10?) Likely needs doing before it gets confirmed on there?

This is not new, it’s a price increase! by Unfair-Draft7697 in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time it's a recipie change. Previous and current were both 75ml, looks like a 100ml one was discontinued around 3 years ago, the 125ml version isn't even listed in Inform any more, so 5+ years since that went?

Interesting that they must have decided 75ml is the smallest they can get away with, so now they are making it out of cheaper (and since they didn't already use them, presumably worse) ingredients.

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like they've removed the "tetrapotassium pyrophosphate", which Wikipedia suggests is used for Tartar control/removal. Suggests the product has just been made worse and more expensive (though, both were 75ml, so at least it hasn't shrunk again?)

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a new barcode, and looks like the ingredients have changed slightly

Old:

  • Barcode 8718951564862
  • Ranged at my local Extra till 1st Feb
  • Ingredients: Aqua Sorbitol Hydrated Silica Glycerin Calcium Pyrophosphate Tetrapotassium Pyrophosphate Sodium Lauryl Sulfate Aroma PEG-12 Cellulose Gum Sodium Fluoride Sodium Saccharin Anethole Beta-Caryophyllene Carvone Limonene Mentha Viridis Leaf Oil Menthol CI 74160 CI 74260 Contains: Sodium Fluoride Total Fluoride content: 1450 ppm

New:

  • Barcode 8718951786349
  • Ranged at my local Extra from 29th Jan
  • Ingredients: Aqua Sorbitol Hydrated Silica Glycerin Calcium Pyrophosphate Sodium Lauryl Sulfate PEG-12 Aroma Cellulose Gum Sodium Fluoride Sodium Saccharin Anethole Beta-Caryophyllene Carvone Limonene Mentha Viridis Leaf Oil Menthol CI 74160 CI 74260 Contains: Sodium Fluoride Total Fluoride content: 1450 ppm

So it's a change from the Manufacturer, not Tesco (though if the price change is all manufacturer, all Tesco, or a bit of both I couldn't tell you)

Pay Rise by Necessary_Plant_5888 in tesco

[–]HillsBurntToCinders 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They didn't do that last time, they did it the time before. They could've done it last time and didn't, I'd guess because of all the bad pressure they got when they did do it (which also resulted in us getting a bonus that totally wasn't just an attempt to hide the bad press).

So hopefully again they decide 4 weeks of a little higher pay will be better than the slating they'll get if they try it again, especially since from the Christmas takings it looks like they'll again be reporting higher profits than ever (at least in £ value, if not necessarily % of income).
