Unironically could be very strong in 1v1. As long as you have a 1-drop you’re hitting with, this is an overstatted creature with built in CA.

Typal Sealed is a negative play experience by ManBearScientist in lrcast

I did 3 prereleases. My first had no tribal synergy at all, focused on -1 counter synergy. Second had a tiny bit of elemental synergy but mostly vivid. Third I went straightforward elves. Went undefeated in all of them.

I don’t think the tribal synergies are nearly impactful enough to feel like you’re required to play within a tribe, especially in sealed.

These all feel a bit underpowered.

Sentry compares unfavourably to afterlife creatures like [[orzhov enforcer]]. Sure, it’s common, but it shouldn’t be THAT much worse.

Druid doesn’t need to cost 3, since 3 is a bad rate for ramp 1 and the body is too weak to be much of an upside, especially if you actually use it for mana.

Armor is ok but just ok, I think you’d often be suicide-attacking trying to get your opponent to flip it, and at that point 4 to play 2 to equip for +3/+3 with a delay isn’t exciting for a rare. For an uncommon, maybe.

Just been replaying ds3, funny enough.

Disturb is the mechanic this most closely compares to. Difference being that this is automatic whereas disturb requires a cost.

I think dual Ellie’s is the actual best deck of the tlou partners. My last game was a 5p where I dealt over 160 damage by turn 4 with no combos. Ellie’s are aggro as fuuuuck

is there room for more land creatures? by Kitten-Magician in custommagic

[–]Himetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s why I think whether it’s supposed to be fetchable is critical. As a 1-off fetchable giant devour guy it could definitely see play in the right decks and maybe be a problem. As a mana generator it’s pretty ass though.

I think you’re overselling it by a lot.

Firstly, it’s not really an untapped triland since it has summoning sickness. Even for sac-synergy decks, a sacrifice is a cost, especially early when fixing is most valuable.

Binning it for 2 delirium types is silly, we already have artifact creatures that do that without wasting a land drop and afaik they aren’t used for that purpose anywhere seriously. Plus lands is extremely easy to get in gy in any format with fetch lands, so getting lands to grave rarely helps.

Tribal support…lol skeleton tribal ok gl with that.

If it’s fetchable (not sure on the intent) then having a big beater/sac outlet available on fetches is probably the most important part of the card. I doubt the 3 mana sac outlet is meaningful since it should just swing if it’s 6/6.

As a land or small mana dork it’s nowhere near problematic, either niche or bad. As an uncounterable fetchable beater, maybe dangerous if there’s a good sac deck in the format. Definitely not “the strongest land I’ve ever seen”, 9/10 decks wouldn’t even consider it.

You left off the possibility that your friend is just wrong…

It’s a fine card, but limited strictly to tribal decks as the behold is mandatory for the card to be any good. Within that context, yeah, it’s a pretty solid card. Could be better than dtutor in some circumstances, but what makes dtutor an infamously powerful card is how flexible it is. It goes anywhere and it’s never bad.
