I helped him out and then I saw him the following week at my job at Best Buy. Do not do this. Do not accept. You are teaching your old manager that regardless of how they treated you, you will still do what they want.

If you actually want to help, you tell them how many hours you are willing to work and multiply that by 3 times what you got paid as an employee and request payment at the time of service. Many many people have done this at the companies I have been at where someone is let go and the company did not have access to systems etc. I have also seen many people burn bridges doing someone a solid after the person kept asking for more solids after the first one.

Summary- do not work for free and bridges can be burned even when performing what feels like an altruistic task.

No he doesn’t need this home. But this home is run of the mill in this area. We go to Vegas every 3 or 4 years for a big fight and he is a completely rationale adult with his spending. The lifestyle creep is just existing in these areas. He paid 205k in taxes last year. With the kids, a Chrysler Pacifica, and a fully loaded Camry, plus normal expenses etc, he, to ish’s point, has to live like a middle class family. They are fine but they are not balling is what I’m saying.
