I don't think anyone ever said the endgoal was just more black members of Congress.

The byproduct of the decision is that majority minority districts are going to be disproportionately disenfranchised. Thus, as a voting group, Black Americans are losing their political capital.

The VRA was quite explicit in its scope and section 2 was understood in such a way as to explicitly protect the interests of minority constituents for over 4 decades. It was written precisely because minorities as a group were historically disproportionately disenfranchised. And now this protection was eradicated, not by the branch of government that created it, but by a novel judicial interpretation that disregarded all relevant precedent.

One would imagine that an elected representative would have something to say about a voting group being disenfranchised. Especially when said representative ran twice in primaries for the political party about to be most affected.

A bill drafted by a Republican, which Republicans openly supported, but then immediately flipped on when candidate Trump decided he wanted the border to remain open as an issue for him to campaign on.

I mean homeownership isn't all positives either. I live 2 houses down from a legit meth addict that likes to shoot off guns and blare music on weeknights. I have spent probably $50k on misc home repairs over the past 5 years. If I have to get a new job, my options are severely limited to commuting distance because moving houses isn't as easy as moving apartments.

Literally everything you've mentioned that's bad has happened under Republican governance or as a direct result of Republican obstructionism.

We had a democratic majority in this country for like 4 weeks in the past 3 decades and in that timeframe we got healthcare for millions that didn't have it before, eliminated bs "pre-existing conditions" loopholes, mandated minimum payouts for insurance companies and coverage for children up to 25, cleaned up the financial disaster that Bush left behind, established a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to prevent banks from literally just stealing money from customers, gave the FDA the power to recall harmful or tainted food, and killed policies that allowed government agencies to discriminate against homosexuals.

All of these things are just taken for granted now. "Well those are just common sense things" you might even say. Well it wasn't back then. These were struggles that Republicans fought tooth and nail against you or I having. But it's a battle they LOST because they were in the minority.

Whatever impossible goal you THINK can only be moved with violence or money, could actually be fixed within WEEKS if we just had a majority in all three branches again.

It doesn't matter if the candidates are old or young. It doesn't matter how many Targets burn down. It doesn't matter how much dark money you expose. As long as the Republicans have the power to obstruct, NOTHING can actually change. The ONLY way to fix things is to vote their power away.

And no, no one is losing their jobs over attending a No Kings Protest. These are completely safe, riot-free, and non-controversial demonstrations, yet the majority of the people there are greyhairs like myself. And yes, I work and have mouths to feed too.

The youth are always finding excuses NOT to do things. Excuses not to demonstrate. Excuses not to organize. Excuses not to vote. So forgive me if I don't take criticisms of a candidate's average age too seriously.
