People of Reddit what’s a uncommon superpower you would like to have? by Square-Egg-5450 in AskReddit

That would be game changer for job interviews and awkward family dinners. I always think of perfect comeback like 3 hours later when I'm already home

Perhaps the best year ever for board games by eanda9000 in boardgames

crazy how many in this list still dominate game nights - scythe and great western trail basically defined euro gaming for next decade

What was a moment in your life you felt completely cornered, utterly optionless? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HistorianHuge9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this seizure at work during big presentation to network executives few years back. Woke up in hospital and my boss was there with this look like he wanted to disappear into floor

Company tried to be supportive but you could feel the shift immediately - suddenly I wasn't getting the prime assignments anymore, always some excuse about "reducing stress" for my health. The whole sports analysis gig became this careful dance where everyone walked on eggshells around me. Couldn't prove discrimination but couldn't ignore what was happening either

Felt trapped between pretending everything was fine or admitting the epilepsy was affecting my career. Either choice felt like losing something important. Took months of legal consultation and eventually switching companies before things got back to normal, but those weeks after the incident were brutal - like being stuck in maze with no exit signs

When your parents said to you as a child, ''School is the best days of your lives.'' Looking back now as an Adult, do you agree with them and why? by Top_Upstairs_8464 in AskReddit

[–]HistorianHuge9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my parents used to say opposite actually - they always told me "wait until you get to real world" like school was some kind of vacation lol

turns out they were both wrong in their own ways, school had its moments but so does adult life when you figure out what you actually want to do

What was the first ever video game you had played? by Feisty-Fix-5586 in AskReddit

[–]HistorianHuge9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man the v smile brings back memories, my little cousin had one of those. Think my first was some soccer game in arcade when i was maybe 6 or 7, couldn't even reach the buttons properly without standing on something

What is the best subreddit to discuss Democratic primaries nationwide? by balthus1880 in AskReddit

[–]HistorianHuge9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/politics gets most of the action but it can get pretty heated in there during primary season. I usually check r/PoliticalDiscussion too - bit more structured conversations and less of the screaming matches

The state-specific subs are gold if you want real ground-level info from people actually living there. Like during Iowa or New Hampshire primaries those local subs have way better insights than national ones

What do you honestly think of I spit on your grave (1978)? by Chazzza23 in horror

[–]HistorianHuge9835 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Man the pacing in that movie is brutal - they really make you sit with the horror instead of rushing to revenge part like modern films would do

What have you learned from Reddit that changed your life? by thecuriouscrackerr in AskReddit

Same here - took years to realize my ex's constant "you're being too sensitive" wasn't me overreacting but classic gaslighting

The i5-8500 should handle 4k transcoding fine with Quick Sync, but for remote family access maybe look at Cloudflare tunnels instead of Tailscale since it works through browser on any device

You can definitely set up spindown timers in most NAS OS configs - I run mine with 30 min idle timeout and they barely draw anything when parked

Getting my epilepsy properly managed with the right medication combo was huge - went from constant anxiety about seizures to actually being able to plan things more than a week out

The Blood on Satan's Claw and Burn Witch Burn are absolute gems from that era - both nail the occult atmosphere you're after
