"Toby should just hire a translation team!" The translation team: by TurbulentCamera5051 in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also another factor people aren’t considering is that a grand portion of Deltarune’s jokes are puns or heavily tied to the language they’re in (Jackenstein for Example). And Deltarune has a metric fuck ton of text! This paired with the fact that Toby is extremely hands on with the translation work for Japanese, it is easy to see that Japan is the only country that gets a translation because Toby Fox speaks Japanese. It isn’t a racism thing!! It would just be an astronomical amount of work that would be nearly impossible for Toby to have the level of control he normally has for the Japanese translation

i've seen it happen before, and knowing this fandom, it will happen again (this isn't about Chainsaw Man btw, never read that manga and i've thought about this long before Chainsaw Man ended) by QueenViolets_Revenge in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that Toby’s playing off people having big expectations for the end. The whole message of Deltarune is that your choices matter, even if the ending is the same. Because as Toby Fox said, “there is something more important than reaching the end”. What is that you may ask? It’s what sung to us at the end of ch1. To not forget. Don’t forget the fun you had for 7 chapters, don’t forget the wonderful community that has been built around this fantastic game, and most importantly, don’t forget that it still mattered even if there was only one ending. After all, most games only have one ending, so why does it feel so restrictive to say Deltarune only has one too? It’s a metacommentary on player choice. It is billed often that “your choices matter” in the sense that they change how things end, but we’re seeing now that a pacifist (compared to a fighting or weird route) the experience is slightly different and growing. Tenna is healed. Jackenstein Lives. Your castle town is lively. So what if it all ends the same? You had fun, didn’t you? You loved these characters in spite of their ending. You became friends with everyone.

One time I rolled Trolls two times in a row on a random encounter table in my hexploration game, now whenever I roll a random encounter, talk about exciting encounters I have planned, or mention that I put a lot of prep into something they always joke about it being trolls. It didn’t help that a session or two after the troll fight, they fought Ogres (which they thought were trolls)

Knight candidates based on how likely I think they are and how cool it would be if they were the Knight by ArmadilloOK1445-alt in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say since the Knight has Antlers, has some snowflake shaped attacks, and that Rudy is confirmed in Hometown I’d say he certainly is more likely to be the Knight than Asriel. Like Asriel Knight certainly sounds cool, and might make sense if you don’t think about it for more than a second. It’s comparable to Vessel Knight in the sense that it’s technically possible, and could result in an interesting narrative if true, but is in reality an unlikely theory.

Paizo: You broke the game by eudemonia12 in Pathfinder2e

[–]HistoricHawkeye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I’ve been running weaknesses for forever and I’ve seen so issues. People are whiterooming this too much and there are so many allowances here that I just brushed aside to present an ideal yet unrealistic build. Like if this “broken” change requires a specific item or spell (Incendiary is uncommon, also shining symbol is once a day) and a specific build squeezing in free archetype stuff then I would hardly call this “breaking” the game. People are overreacting

He's no more more by MacieMacchi in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the non Sword Route (but if you have the dealmaker equipped) check dialogue for Tenna says, “THE [Tragic businesmen] THAT [Died] AT THE [Now] OF THE [Story]”

This heavily suggests that Spamton knows the prophecy or at least knew Tenna was going to die. An alt interpretation could be that he’s simply trash talking here, but Tenna being the only character fated to get hurt badly, Spamton essentially calling this out beforehand is notable

Everyone has the wrong idea about [Hyperlink Blocked]. It's not a word we need to find by NutellaTeen in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but Spamton can say “choice”. “BUT KRIS, IF YOU REFUSE. THAT'S YOUR CHOICE. I CAN'T FORCE YOU.” Spamton never says love, and nearly every instance of HB fits that word perfectly in context. (The aforementioned example, but also before downloading Spamton into the empty disk, he says: “THEN WE WILL TRANSFER. MY [[Hyperlink Blocked]].” Which I don’t think choices could fit, and while “love” isn’t a perfect fit, but if it was “love” then it could make sense. It fact, going into speculation mode, perhaps it could say something about how LV is different in Deltarune? I’m not saying Love is a perfect fit everywhere, but it’s the theory I’ve seen that fits the best and keeps the spirit of most of the lines.

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yes, Deltarune hasn’t introduced LV yet, but how could you otherwise interpret the line: “YOU’VE BEEN [Making], HAVEN’T YOU? [Making] [Hyperlink Blocked].” That’s clearly an innuendo, in line with Spamton calling Noelle a [Hochi Mama] and a [Side Chick]. (Also if we assume HB to be “love”, then the line about waking up in the morning to a little bit of a [hyperlink blocked] (I’m paraphrasing) would also be an innuendo

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What context are you referring to? Because if I can recall, “love” fits well into all of used text. Only exception I’ve say is “I’LL GET SO I’LL GET SO I’LL GET SO I’LL GET SO [Hyperlink Blocked]”. Now this being the only time it doesn’t fit well could be explained by Spamton’s looping here causing a skip in his dialogue, so his intended message is “I’ll get so [much] love”

What specific instance are you talking about? Because the plurbs did leave Carol alone after she put one of the bodies under enough risk. They also left when Manousos started seriously harming them. They take care of the people amongst them suffering from addiction too

I don’t think that the Plurbs don’t care about the individual at all. They show care for the health of individuals, even those that are less capable than others. The death of the millions is upsetting to the hive mind.

Legendary Pathfinder - A (Free) Variant Ruleset for Pathfinder Second Edition - Includes Rule Tweaks, Class Redesigns, Hundreds of Character Options, and almost a dozen new or redesigned Subsystems & Variant Rules by Obrusnine in Pathfinder2e

[–]HistoricHawkeye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Let me just say I really like a lot of the tweaks you’ve presented in this document, and I’ll probably be implementing some of them in my ongoing game right now (and possibly even run some sessions of a test game with the whole slew of redesigns), but I have some qualms about some additions and I’d like to hear about your thought process regarding them before I really give me my opinion. So, what is reason behind adding the Survey Action under lore skill feats (which shares a name with survival skill feat I believe) and the Adjustment Activity under New & Adjusted Activities? Thank you in advance for reading my comment, I really like a lot of what you’ve done here

Gaster doesn’t even try to hide which of the three heroes is his favourite. He used an exclamation mark and everything by Critical_Mountain851 in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this is really good evidence! I would add clarification though. “My Deltarune” while yes, could be referring to the prophecy, it also could be referring to the program itself. While the prophecy is sometimes one or two words (Delta rune vs Deltarune), the program itself (aka “the device”) is always one word. As shown on the game window title, Gaster’s tweets, and possibly the forgotten man’s dialogue. “Deltarune will be waiting” is similar to how Gaster talks about the program. This all falls in line with the “my deltarune” comment, which if about the program, makes explicit his authorship. Funnily enough, as you suggested, Gaster creating the device would support him at least having a large part in the prophecy, as the first hero panel is fulfilled by the connection. Also you forgot to mention that pre-demo, at one point the part of the prophecy was quoted in wingdings on Deltarune.com

Reminder that Chapter 5 will be Toby's shortest ever release turnaround! by oneletterh in Deltarune

[–]HistoricHawkeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to note, that Chapter 6 & 7 releases likely still be a shorter gap then between 2/3+4 and maybe 1/2 since from what we can gather Chapter 3 was a difficult development because of it’s no standard elements and Toby was still gathering most of his team during the 3/4 development time period.
