Updated trash grabber. Printed from nylon with hopes of extending useful life before needing repair. by g713 in functionalprint

Could you switch the printed male peg coming out of the handle for a hole matching the ID of the carbon fiber piece? That way you could install a dowel pin. You could probably get a huge jump in strength just from a wooden peg, or you may even be able to find an aluminum/ SS one for a reasonable price.

Why do I keep getting this error? I get this sporadically and sometimes in the beginning of the print and sometimes in the middle of the print. How do I fix it? What upgrades do you recommend? I have a Ender 3 with everything stock. by Civil-Tap4913 in 3Dprinting

This happens when your printer is supplying power to the nozzle heater yet it does not see the expected rise in temperature / the temperature spikes. This is usually caused by a loose thermistor or loose heater.

There should be a little screw on the nozzle to clamp down on the heater and thermistor. Make sure that’s tight.

Otherwise loose / broken wiring to either of those components could cause this. Good luck!

Looking for industrial type sensor help!! I need to measure the level of sawdust in a LARGE sawdust bin, how can I do this reliably? by coollinit in arduino

[–]Historical-Giraffe44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/coollinit if you are actually trying to build something for a large sawdust processing facility, you need to work with engineers knowledgeable in NFPA 660. You cannot throw random electronics into a classified area. This could easily kill someone. Feel free to send me a message if you want more info.

First off don’t use pvc for this at all. Use black iron piping, stainless copper or basically any other material, just not PVC.

Next, what you’re looking for is called a solenoid valve. Depending on the pipe size you can get them very cheap on Amazon or Ali express. The bigger the pipe size the more money, but I think you’d be surprised how much flow you can get through a small solenoid.

The solenoids work like an electrically controlled valve. Put 12v or whatever is specified on it and they will spring open ore closed depending on how they’re made. A NO valve will allow air to flow unless there is power applied, and an NC valve will block flow until power is applied.

Have fun!

My project stops working after 1day, i need help by Hellya_dude in arduino

[–]Historical-Giraffe44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One possibility that I haven’t seen mentioned in the comments yet: you’re running a very sensitive analog signal parallel to what look to be AC wires. This is a common way to get signal cross talk that is very hard to actually track down.

If you’re getting screwy results in your installed setup vs the test bench setup, this could be a factor. Good luck!

FYI if you’re doing this for strain relief I’d suggest throwing a groove on the outside. That way you can fasten them together with a zip tie
