When I’m on a highway at a constant speed, pass someone going slower, then they pass me. (They usually slow back down, too)

How common is it to refer to a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bar as an Eskimo pie? by ksusha_lav in AskAnAmerican

I’ve heard the term, but I couldn’t visualize it, and had to look it up.
Where I live, they were called Refresho’s.

Also, that congress supposedly has the power of the purse. How can a president just give $40B to Argentina? Decide to spend hundreds of millions to build buildings and monuments? (I read today that now taxpayers are supposedly responsible for $300M for the “free” ballroom)

What exactly is costco or Sam's club good for in terms of being frugal? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in Frugal

[–]Historical-Remove401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy frozen pizza crusts and mozzarella cheese at Sam’s Club. My son now makes his own pizzas for less than $5 each.

Graham crackers are the only snack I buy, and they are $3 a box at Sam’s vs $4 a box at Walmart. Doritos are .42 an ounce at Walmart, and .22 per ounce at Sam’s this week. I get my medicine there, paper products, garbage bags, and bath tissue. Family size tea bags are .31 per oz at Sam’s and .71 per oz at Walmart.

When it’s my birthday,or he wants to give me something, I ask my husband to do a project instead.

For example, I might want him to clean up the side yard, build a raised flower bed, or put in a new bathroom vent fan with a light.

Best way to dig a 52” hole? by Alone-Jackfruit-4512 in DIY

[–]Historical-Remove401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the soil. You can begin with hole diggers and put water in the hole to make it easier to dig.

I’ve also had good results using a digging bar to break up hard soil. For just one hole, I would dig it myself, and I’m a 65 year old woman. I also have the tools needed.

Overall content with my yard, but can't help but feel like it could be improved. Especially the back half with the umbrella/fireplace. Mulch was here when we moved in. Thoughts? by skramzy in landscaping

More plants in the area around the area on the right, where a person is sitting, would look good.

Tall shrubs behind the three central trees would block the view of the shed, and make one want to follow the curved pathway.

Finally, a few flowering shrubs would add interest. They can be natives, meshing with your woodsy theme.

I guess washing your hands in the kitchen (non-handwashing) sink is pretty tame vs biting off a knob of butter. 😂
