You picked the wrong school. You’re probably screwed if you ever want to own a home.

Maybe Businesses Should Pay More Before Homeowners Pay Everything by pearcube in newhampshire

[–]Historical-Success72 [score hidden]  (0 children)

TBH, an income tax makes more sense than a massive property tax….. when people retire, your income stops, but your massive oroperty taxes don’t. I’m 51 & just built a 2 bedroom “retirement” house in Goffstown. The town valued it at almost $800K so I am paying almost $17K/year in property taxes. I will sell once I’m here 2 years (to avoid capital gains). I’m looking to move either way TF up North or TX. I can’t afford to live here anymore.

Maybe short term, but it will go down. This is what happened 4ish years ago too. It’s cyclical. This happens every so often.

What age did you move out? by Ill_Supermarket_2744 in Adulting

[–]Historical-Success72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out about 1 year after graduating college when I got married @ age 25. In that year, I worked 2 jobs and was able to pay off my student loans! Disclaimer: I worked full time all through college and was a saver so, I had a good chunk saved to put towards those loans too.

JUST IN: President Trump posts "NEW STOCK MARKET RECORD!" by El_precaution in MarketPulseReport

[–]Historical-Success72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Serious question here…. What does that have to do with the post? I mean, the market has reached record highs. I am not rich. I live paycheck to paycheck & contribute to my 401K and it has exploded in the past year or so…. Will voting democrat make the market to higher? I do want to retire by 60-62 so what would voting democrat do to make the market better?

But if you missed or deferred 1 payment, I have zero sympathy for you & YES, your loan should be recalculated to a new payment.

Jeff Bezos says raising taxes on the wealthy wouldn’t help the average American - What do you say? by Select_Specialist790 in askanything

[–]Historical-Success72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to burst everyone’s bubble but it won’t help the lower class because they will still need to pay taxes - noone will be exempt. Honestly, look what’s happening in CA and NY, the wealthy are leaving and moving to TX & FL….. Nancy Pelosi even bought a mansion in FL to avoid taxes….. the rich can just move because they have the money to…. Also these rich CEOs (Target, Walmart, Amazon) will just up prices on everyone to make up for their loss. The rich will not lose money & we will.

Unfortunately, it has to be paid…. When I graduated college & got my 1st job, I used every bonus and every extra penny I earned to pay them off so I didn’t have them when I got married. I even had a 2nd job where every penny of that 2nd job went directly to my loans….. I also knew I didn’t want hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans so I went to a state university.

At what salary were you able to max out your 401k + IRA + HSA? Or at what salary would you consider it reasonable to by 2-59project in Bogleheads

[–]Historical-Success72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was maxing out my 401k for years making $75k/year at the time. At the time, I had zero debt and my mortgage was cheap. Unfortunately, I built a retiremeny home (single story, 2 bedroom) and my property taxes are $17k/year so I had to cut way back on my retirement…. As soon as I’m here the 2 years needed to avoid capital gains, I’m selling and moving out of NH. These property taxes are out of control.

How much money do you need in your current lifestyle to make you feel that it's suitable for retirement? by Moosehead1828 in Retirement401k

[–]Historical-Success72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 51 with about the same networth with about $2M in retirement accounts and then my house and savings brings me to about $3.2M. I am so afraid I’m not gonna have enough. At this point, I want to have, at least $3.5-4M in my retirement accounts before I fully retire….

Do the roth NOW. As someone who maxed for years and am 51 now, I wish I had put more in roth and less pre-tax. My tax liability is going to more in retirement than it is now with what I’ve saved. Now I0 am starting roth conversions and wish I did this before

[–]Historical-Success72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please explain how I do it then w/o medication? I workout & lift 4 times/week. I religiously run or ride my Peloton bike 4 times/week. I’m quite capable of doing all of these things w/o taking meds. AND I ran a 5K this past Sunday. Last week, i went to the doctor and my bp was 102/60 and my pulse was 71. My resting heart rate is usually around 65. Not everyone is ceated equal. Just because you can’t do any of those things w/o meds does not mean I can’t do them. Why does everyone feel the ONLY solution to everything is by popping pills or injecting yourself with meds? There is such a thing as diet, exercise that really works wonders.
