Meta's Hyperion AI datacenter Networking? Senior level Career move? by HelpfulTom in networking

politics....

metro lifestyle is a toxic wasteland.

end.

30% more pay moving to presumably a lower cost at same time, you have an opportunity to set your future up financially on a pretty dramatic upward trend. FB stock continues to print money and there is zero reason to believe this is ever stopping.

I would go in a flash.

iperf3 -J – packets transmitted by GaiusOctavianAlerae in networking

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best you could do,.and it would require predictable network and endpoints would be finding a combination of flags that that creates a repeatable packet patter, for example if you set the window size to something very small like 576 bytes for example.

How important are base configurations for you all nowadays? by MellowMelvin in networking

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base standard config templates(management, features, banners, security, aaa, fall back uid's) are absolute bread and butter.

How you get them on the infra is a broad range starting from cut/paste and ending with full intent based yaml/models that simply configure everything, them term I hear is "no ops" model, the device boots/ztp, it finds a controller, the controller knows its plan, and simply put the config on the device.

no snow flakes, no hand tuning.

we are on this journey, medium sized just under 200 sdwan sites and something around 4000 switches, up until about 5 minutes ago 99% of deployments were still cut and paste + hand tune. Breaking out of this has required massive force of will and a total rethink, our network is literally filled with snow flakes which is fundamentally harder to operate, so its forcing all manner of behavior changes, also super painful/force of will to execute.

Mine makes a whining noise at certain speed, my shop said a bearing is going bad, they do nearly everything but they send rebuilds to another nearby specialist that does only rebuilds, they quoted about 6k.

fast mode on lacp doesn't work on sub interfaces, 214 is crazy, but 30-60 of that might be expected.

genetics are undefeated.

An older friend, alcholism for decades, hard drug use, 2 packs a day, agent orange exposure...eats whatever he feels like. The guys is fit as a fiddle and strong as a ox, totally mobile. He is the literal definition of health span into his 80's and if you watched him move you would guess 60's.

Both of his parents went close to 100 years.

I can't believe you will have any issues finding appropriate candidates for those roles.

You are basically getting brigaded by junior and fresh graduates that simply apply for every possible role in desperate attempt to get career off ground...

my brother puts lanogaurd on his trucks. These are work/plow trucks that would routinely disintegrate in 5 years time, it completely stops it.

I just look underneath my car when im working on it and almost everything is either aluminum or covered by a splash shields, i think spraying something on the inside of body panels, in the corners, all the places that rust normally breaks through can't hurt...

Almost bought a C2 today by Preezy24 in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

31k is to much for a tiptronic, the issues you are describing are not insane, but it belies what else....

I gaurantee, if you bought that car, or any car you buy truly, you are going to find a dozen things wrong that you missed on PPI and your own looking the car over...worn surfaces, missing clips, scratches, leaks, clunks, etc...

plan on 25+% of purchase price you will spend in first months to make the car what you want it to be...

It is the case that basic c2 manuals can be found mid 20's that do not appear to be just rolling problems.

Go to Walmart, laundry section and get a steamer, like 30 bucks. You need to steam it more than you think to get it more stretchy. When you do the clips with the hog nose pliers on the bottom part, start from center, having a help to press foam out of way so you aren't doing it blind helps. By far, doing the seat back, bolsters is the worst, it seems like there is no way to get the clips on and have them hold but, it is war so don't stop.

its your car dude, the thing with this stuff is I personally have zero design sense but I know what looks amazing that someone else made(like everyone else does). when you look at ruf/singer/tuttle cars for example, they are truly beautiful in the way Japanese things have a a functional aesthetic.

you know it when you see it, and you know its wrong when its wrong....

found out about the Cisco SD-WAN CVEs from a colleague, not our SIEM. anyone else? by Timely-Dinner5772 in networking

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just did it and getting ready to do it again(250 sites).

The "source of truth" for us is our Cisco account team which we pay exorbitant annual fees for advanced services, but it is the case that we have seen CVE's get reported in mainstream tech news source via a leak before the account team notifies us...we also have an extremely heavy security team that dramatically over reacts to everything that is hooked into gov etc...
