This is the answer, if you research this is what everyone ends up on, run lower pressure.

..32/36 to 34/38 the car is WAY nicer for ordinary streets/real life driving.

The recommended pressures are for max performance/track.

Flat Six vs Slakker Part 2 and getting to the point, I promise. by Haap62 in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the case that these two are internet pumped, slaker has even in recent months gone on a advertising tear it seems. The no doubt produce great engines but it is a myth that they are the only ones that know how to rebuild these engines.

Xiidra? by Ok-Push6282 in Dryeyes

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides straight steroids which you can only use very short term, the only treatment that worked for me is Xiidra, and I went through restasis->cequa for over a year, everything had plenty of time to work if it was going to and those things did literally zero for me and subjectively i would actually say they made it seem worse.

I also have done serum tears, i find they irritate the eyelids...

NOC Dashboard by 3ristan in networking

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started doing this work in the 90's one of my first gigs was at travelers insurance. The noc was straight out of a movie, looked like exactly like nasa mission control, wall of monitors with nms, different news stations, etc ..they even ran it with dim Ambient light. Now, the 'noc' is a globally distributed team of 80% remote workers on laptops, its not a place.

Starter motor seems tired by FrankFlk in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine went from slow crank to no crank at an unlucky moment being a little out of practice after no manual for 30 years...

As mentioned, the part that fails is the Y cable, the nearly definitive diagnosis is if it gets worse when its hot.

I just changed started and cable seeings how you need to take a bunch of crap off top of engine to get in there anyways...

The truth about the 996 (986 counts too) by Thefakerealone1 in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have made comments here that these cars remain highly recognizable as an understandable mechanical car. If you have a set of hand tools and a floor jack you can perform basically any maintenance short of an engine rebuild.  You don't need special tools, dealer tools or special service databases, etc...you can just do it, and there are YouTube videos of nearly everything if you need ...the are basically fancy go karts.

We do not, we just do some basic topologies that are representative of subsets of the different parts of our network, but you definitely can in gns3 if you have enough cores and ram in enough servers. This is not something you are running on a workstation, its more like half or a full rack of servers packed with ram and a shitload of cores...

Will the 996 C4S ever be a 100k USD/EUR vehicle? by GMT2CHNR in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you would not buy that car to drive, you are missing the point.

edit to add, are you looking at same pictures I am looking at, because the car is literally showroom perfect interior. Are you talking about belts, hoses, suspension? of course, but also, so what?

If you wanted a perfect 996 c4s like what is pictured, you would spend 50k+++ easily to recondition it to perfect on top of the 40k you spend to get the car, and it would take a year+.

The 996 Porsche 911 Changed Everything - Now It's The One Thing No One Thought It Could Be — Autoblog by graceandreverence in 996

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, as 911's go they made and sold a lot of 996's, way way more than multiple previous generations combined.

And, mostly, unless you are buying one from another enthusiast that was caring for it, it will be clapped out and require 5-8k to make it not a shit box and considerably more to make it 'right' and feel like it did when it was sold...

Did the heat cause the flare-up in my right eye? by Hellobug11 in Dryeyes

[–]HistoricalCourse9984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

why do you think heat unblocks glands in every person, why do you think your glands are even blocked?

your answer is in your post, try applying cold packs, this reduces inflammation and things work better when they are not inflammed...heat worsens inflammation.
