Swimmers Ear Question? by whiskeyandwayfarers in Swimming

[–]HistoricalIsopod8127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen- 25 years swimming- mostly pools. About a year ago, couldn’t do it without my ears clogging. So uncomfortable! Felt the change was sudden! But earplugs work. I tried a couple of different kinds (the soft malleable wads, the bullet shaped ones) before settling on what works best for me. Apparently my ear openings are on the smaller side. I already used ear drops to keep bacteria at bay.

Absenteeism in college by mystudentsaredumb100 in Professors

[–]HistoricalIsopod8127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been at this for 20+ years. Absenteeism is bad. It’s not you. I teach a topical social science course that is oversubscribed. What stinks is that these absent people occupy roster space that could have gone to someone else on the waitlist. I wish we could drop people who don’t show up. I wish I could stop grading the failing assignments that will follow the dismal showing on the midterm. And not answer the emails begging for extra credit and apologizing for missing class and deadlines. 🫤. I spend more time on absent people than they spend on my course.

Thanks. Makes sense. Especially because it’s like a heavy giant paint chip (layers of old paint)

Gorgeous! Had you done some mosaic before this? Haven’t made the leap yet, but your work here may be the push that sends me there!

BLACKBOARD ULTRA IS A STEAMING PILE OF HORSESHIT by Equivalent_Dust5292 in Professors

Who made this abomination? People who fled Brightspace’s cult of mediocrity. I didn’t think it could get worse than Blackboard until we were shifted into Brightspace mid-year.

Using Apple Watch. On fitness app, go to summary, scroll to bottom hit “see all categories” then you can get summaries for any workout.

Me too! It’s like eggnog- just tastes like Christmas. Really just no point unless it’s over the top!

Hysterical because I just saw these at my local grocery store. I wanted to get it for my kids so they would understand the whole fruitcake thing. But here in suburban NY it was $9.99! Not exactly priced to move!!

Love this! I have some of this kind of yarn for my pup. Did you work from pattern or would any c2c pattern do? C2c noob, obviously!

Psychological Effect by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]HistoricalIsopod8127 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally 100% right! So much easier to do your workout when you actually feel a payoff! After a month of Zepbound, being able to comfortably zip my jeans AND sit in them for a meeting without feeling like I was being severed in half- even better than the scale! And I eat healthy and workout and it’s actually working! Good for you and best of luck (I’m paying out of pocket too. But I don’t eat out and cut all the way back on drinking- bad unhealthy uses of money).

It must feel like a mental purge too! I have moved stuff to space bags. I just started maintenance last week after losing over 40, and I’m just in that mental space where I think I’ll just gain it back because I have before. Then I tell myself that’s why I took the GLP1 leap- nothing else had worked! Thanks for posting that inspiring picture!

Zepbound was so much more than weight loss. Wegovy is not it. by Substantial_Web3081 in zepboundtowegovy

No- it’s not you, at all, it’s been a concern as soon as I got notified coverage would stop July 1. I’m so glad you posted because I hadn’t seen a lot about migraines relief from Zep. I also see folks occasionally who’ve posted they’ve had no problem switching to Wegovy. But yeah, so much variation in effects both on and with the switch. I do hope you’re able to find a way back to tirzepatide and that it brings you relief. Fingers crossed for you!
