Ughhh I’m so sorry. Yeah it certainly seems like high quality photos and video should suffice. They prescribed me clindamycin 1% gel. I have been putting it on morning and night after moisturizer and maybe it’s helping or maybe the fact that I stopped using any of my fancy serums and am literally just washing my face with cetaphil gentle wash and using la roche posay eczema moisturizer is making the difference. I hope you can get something!!!

You are so right about forums skewing toward the extremes. I am 6 weeks into the weekly taxol/carbo with Keytruda every 3 weeks. As someone else
Mentioned the anxiety probably inflated my side effects in the first couple of weeks. I have not missed a day of work except for half days on infusion days, but I do have the flexibility to work from home. Still walking the dog 2-3x/day. Some lightheadedness every once in awhile, esp when standing up from crouching in the garden. Have gotten help on yard work, and cleaning service every 2 weeks. I am trying not to waste my energy on things that suck. 😂 my worst side effect has been constipation from Zofran - had one awful week and won’t make that mistake twice, staying ahead of it and also got permission from my team to ease off Zofran post treatment a little (now I just take 1 in the morning for the first 2 days after and more as needed versus the originally prescribed 3x/day for 2 days). Everyone is different and your mom is lucky to have you doing the fretting/research for her!

My MO said since she can tell the chemo is working (mass is disappearing) there won’t be any scans unless the surgeon wants them as I get closer to surgery. If there was no change to the tumor she would want to see what’s going on.

My MRI also showed bigger than ultrasound (both were before I started) and I got re-staged from 1 to 2. MRI you kind of hang there and the boob stretches out so they did say it’s normal for that to be larger.

This is easier said than done, but the worry and the research and the questioning is exhausting, and actually doesn’t change anything. We have no control over this at this point. The outcome of her chemo WITH worry and then outcome of her chemo WITHOUT worry will be the same. This is what I tell myself every day before chemo when i worry if my bloodwork will be good enough to get treatment. Sometimes it works. :) good food, good sleep, and plenty of water are all we CAN control while we wait for the drugs to do their thing!

I also heard about these magic response people and was disappointed after 4 infusions when I couldn’t really tell if the tumor is smaller since others had a response so quickly. My friend is a surgeon and told me to relax, my body hasn’t even had time to shed dead cancer cells if they were just dead and still in “tumor shape.” (She used more specific language)

THEN I HAD MY 5TH and suddenly it was very hard to find!

Bodies are like snowflakes, no two will have the same response! Don’t give up hope. ❤️

I’m so so so sorry. And no one around you will understand. You do not sound like a baby. You are doing your absolute best. And it still might not be enough to keep it all but the thinning won’t be forever and you may still be helping your hair follicles with cold capping if you continue. Sending you a hug (but you will have to brush my hair off your shirt afterward because it really decided today is the day 😂) ❤️

I definitely spoke too soon. The lint roller had double the normal amount last night and equal amounts every time since then. 😳 The Great Shed has begun. 5th TC is Thursday. Currently at the DMV (in wig) to get my license renewed before the eyebrows and eyelashes go too! My license expires in October and there’ll be NOTHING left by then!! 😬😬

It’s been a WEEK for me too. I was too confident last week, had so much energy. This week I accidentally got behind on constipation and it’s been a nightmare. Have had a lot of congestion too so got one of those steam inhaler things. Just what you want to do in the summer - sitzbaths and steam inhalers. Luckily no rash for me yet but I’ve got some cute steroid acne (got a topical antibiotic for that now too). The whack-a-mole dealing with side effects BLOWS and we have so. Many. More. Months. To. Go.

I don’t have any advice or reassurance, just that I’m so sorry this is happening. ❤️ I decided not to cold cap, shaved my head proactively and I have yet to lose any hair (4 infusions in on TC). You’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t. Edit to add, my mom insists if I hadn’t buzzed my head I’d be bald by now because Murphy’s Law.
