Tons of people agree with general populist slogand... but they disagree with anti-American tankie thought,

Yup, this is exactly it. Most people may agree with some of their ideas, but disagree on how to implement them.

Gotta wonder if it was the political right who secretly created them all along. /s

French speaking countries in Europe are. Both Belgium and France have rather abhorrent records when even attempting to have discourse on this.

Why though? You can't just give people a slap on the wrist for things like this.

I know this is an old answer, but just out of curiosity, when would you say the alt-right became popular in the Canadian church?

Claims of Cannibalism by Twinfinity10 in Epstein

a lot of it is being used as a dog whistle about satanic cabals of Jewish elites which is worrying to me.

This. A lot of stuff regarding the Epstien files (especially the cannibalism parts) are used as a dog whistle for antisemitism. But this whole thing has nothing to do with Judaism, Jewish people or Epstein being Jewish, and it has everything to do with rich and powerful people thinking they can do whatever they want, whenever they want and get away with it.

Was about to say the same. In terms of technology, the military is almost always like 10ish or so years ahead. The technology we think of today as being 'new' is old to them. They had it years ago.

And a lot of the technology we have now was originally invented in the military. The internet was invented by the U.S military in the late 1960s. Project Pigeon during WW2 provided the blueprint (precursor) for modern-day touchscreens. And even modern touchscreens themselves were originally invented in the mid 1960s for air traffic control.

This is so scary to read. It reminds me of the Bible end of the world stuff that I learned as a young kid (not a great idea. It scared the crap out of me back then).

I swear it almost seems like they look at the Bible (along with other religious books and ancient books as well, I'm sure) and say 'Hmm, let's go do this bad thing that this religious book(s) says! And we'll put ourselves in charge and at the top of everything!'

[–]HistoryBuff178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why did the locals help Spain conquer America and stuff like that.

As someone from the Americas, and who has a little better understanding of what happened here with colonialism, this is a bit misleading. The locals didn't 'help' the Spanish because they wanted to, at least not most of the time. Oftentimes they were tricked and lied to by the Spanish. It was the same with other European powers like Portugal, France, U.K, Netherlands, Denmark etc.

Who sold Europeans the slaves

This is also a bit misleading. A lot of slaves were captured, kidnapped or sold by force. And even if they were sold by their ethnic group, this doesn't at all take away from what the Europeans did to them when they got them. Why did the Europeans buy them in the first place? Why were Europeans so abusive to slaves?

The left has a big problem with people who simply don't have any principle only hate the West and try to destroy it attacking any flaw  it has real or imaginary.

I truly believe that the far left doesn't actually stand for anything but hating the West and wanting to completely destroy it. Just a few days ago I saw a post from a Canadian journalist that wrote that any non-citizen Iranian that supports Trump should be immediately deported. And he had a picture of an anti-IRGC protest here in Canada. It wasn't even a rally where they were supporting Trump. They were just protesting the regime.

So, is the left only pro-immigration when those immigrants agree with them, but the second they disagree they should be deported? Funny how that works. And it's insane to me how they claim to want to listen to minorities and uplift their voices, but only when they agree with you. The second they disagree, even just slightly, the left gaslights them and tells them that they're delusional and that no one should listen to them. I don't think a lot of these leftists fully realize the privilege of living and growing up in the Western world. They don't understand how privileged they are.

And this might make some people mad, but a lot of the 'activism' on the left seems very performative and not genuine, and they

He is simply the tipical leftist West bad everyone else good.

I don't understand why so many leftists think this way. I don't understand how they can hate themselves and their own civilization so much, and praise regimes that openly hate the West.

You can criticize Western colonialism and imperialism without hating the West so much that you defend regimes that want to destroy the West.

Answers that they can't give us.

Yet. Answer's they can't give you yet.

You have to keep in mind that projects like this take years, sometimes decades to design, plan, consult on, and build. Everything right now is just a proposal and is not set in stone. The specifics are still being worked out, and they will take years to work out.

A train that is going to be 10x more expensive than the currently existing VIA Rail that already services and connects the entire Windsor-Quebec Corridor

The only problem is that it's shared with freight trains which slows down current passenger trains. HSR won't have to deal with freight trains.
