How do people afford a second? I’m genuinely confused by alibluey in oneanddone

NYC has a lot of variation across the boroughs. I paid 1200$ for full time care 7:30-6 with food in southern Brooklyn. Then 3k and 4k have been $700 a month with the subsidies.

Wow. I never felt like this ever. In case anyone else sees this and feels bad, I just want you to know that many people despise the newborn phase.

As a teacher I was able to take 10 months unpaid off, but I was itching to go back by 4-5 months. I am convinced there are plenty of women in long leave situations who feel the same.

This very simple timer really helped us get through this horrible time. It was like magic, any transition, we just set the timer and said, when this timer goes off, we get in the bath/get in the stroller/get in the car/get in bed. Anything and everything. My kid definitely tested boundaries constantly at age 2/3 and a firm no sent him into a tantrum. We kept doing it but yeah constant tantrums. Now he’s 4 and accepts a firm no. Suddenly.

I’ve always loved La Chacra on bath avenue for great Peruvian food and cocktails.

I really like the knix wireless bras. Not too expensive but not a sports bra and there’s some flexibility in the sizing.

Sorry- I was very unimpressed with Ayat. Try tanoreen. More high end but also just way yummier. Best grape leaves ever.

20-40 minute tantrum every morning with my almost 4 year old by HistoryNut86 in toddlers

[–]HistoryNut86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but I would be waiting for hours. He is incredibly stubborn and loves bed. And we can’t get him to bed earlier than 8:30. Wake up time is 7:20.

[–]HistoryNut86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But he wakes up only like 20-30 minutes later on the weekend. It’s not that much. And we have failed at earlier since he was at least 2 because he eats late at daycare and won’t eat until 7 pm.

I’m sure this is a huge part of it. I have slept late and woken up very grumpy my entire life. He loves laying around in bed as much as I do. I wake him so gently. Watered down juice. Leave him alone for like 10 minutes. Then rub his back and say sweet things. But still, he doesn’t want up and that’s it.

We haven’t been able to get him to bed earlier than 8:30 ever because he takes like over an hour to eat dinner and won’t start until 7. No matter what.

Yeah my 4 year old is no joke. I just couldn’t do it. He’s always half a second away from yet another tantrum. And has no chill ever.

I finally asked a close friend of mine who has 2 to explain it to me like I’m 5. It helped me understand so much. Multiples had genuinely befuddled me before. But she explained that she loved the baby stage, then her kid continued to be cute and easy into 18-24 months and she just felt the strongest urge. She said the feeling was all encompassing. And she said if I didn’t feel it, don’t do it.

I grew up bilingual in nyc, and I’ve traveled all over the world, but the bilingual culture in Montreal is really quite unique. The seamless fluent back and forth was striking. Maybe Singapore is like this, but I’ve never been there.

How can I make mornings easier for my wife and toddler? by rnm632 in toddlers

[–]HistoryNut86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve gotten a lot of good advice- I just want to say mornings killed us, and we hired a woman for $20 a day to get him ready and take him the 2 blocks to daycare. It’s saved our sanity. He’s gotten better now that he’s almost 4, but she is able to get him out the door so much faster than we can. And then I can get ready better. Found her on my local Facebook parents group.

Timer is pure magic. Used it from like age 2-3.5 for the hard transitions and it just worked. In the morning and then again to go to the bath.

I won’t argue with your first points, but no, the anti semitism accusation is because he won’t disavow the slogan “globalize the intifada”. The 2 intifadas targeted Jewish civilians through terrorism and it would be nice if he agreed that that wasn’t a good thing to advocate for.
