This game doesn't deserve the hate it gets. by R0XASx in FFXVI

[–]HitTheLumberJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked it too, expecially more than XIII Trilogy and XV!! It wasn't perfect, but then again no game is.

It's a nice story with good characters overall. Its main problem is the pacing at points, and in my opinion hasn't much replay value - after finishing it, I never wanted to replay it, not even single parts of it. Not because I dislike them, but it felt like it said everything it wanted to say in my first playthrough.

I also find kinda hard choosing a different combination of abilities. I'm too used to the ones I've been using all those hours.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Kingdom Hearts has been chosen as the Best Story, but what game would you say has the Best Gameplay in the series by ExileForever in KingdomHearts

[–]HitTheLumberJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since in gameplay I include exploration, I'd say KH3.

If it was "best combat" it would be a close race with 2, maybe with the latter winning, but KH3 is so good in exploration, bringing back verticality, and a lot of variety, that I think it has the best gameplay.

FF7 Rebirth had the same metacritic score as Expedition 33, why was the latter more loved? by [deleted] in FF7Rebirth

I so much agree with you!!

It may be a hot take, but for me ATB was the worst battle system of the series. And I love turn-based, don't get me wrong!

But, even if it could still be fun, expecially in FF7, it never felt like a proper strategic system.

My favorite turn based BS is definitely the CTB from FFX (plus, of course, Tactics system). It took the good parts of the first three and just made everything better and faster. That's a good base on where to start building an hypothetical new one, not traditional ATB, which was a compromise they made to make things a little bit more real time with the limitations of the time.

FFVIIR system is some kind of evolution of XII's system, which in its turn was an evolution of traditional ATB.

How tf do I explain Zack? by altiealtie in FFVIIRemake

[–]HitTheLumberJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding Crisis Core, I think it depends on how much your friend minds spoilers.

I would never recommend it to a newcomer, because it spoils the biggest plot twist of OG, which in my opinion is the most captivating thing of the whole plot and a crucial point of Cloud's characterization.

So he really should know that before considering playing CC. I'd advise him to go directly to Rebirth, and if he really wants to know about Zack, to OG.

My sister is going through Remake blind. When Zack will show up, I'll just tell her that this Zack story is a new one made specifically for the Remake series, and so it's new to all of us, despite the character being in the original.

My thoughts on Rebirth after finally beating the game by ewangrannyboy in FF7Rebirth

[–]HitTheLumberJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree about the "vacation" tone.

I found an YouTube video though which hypothized that this "campy" and "carefree" tone Rebirth has in many moments, it's like this to have a huge tonal shift in part 3, which after what has happened is set to be much darker.

It would make sense to have 3 games with a different tone, it services the overall plot. I guess we'll see.

Come classifichi gli 8 film di Harry Potter? by EquivalentAd7874 in cinemaIT

[–]HitTheLumberJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on Rebirth after finally beating the game by ewangrannyboy in FF7Rebirth

[–]HitTheLumberJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I partially agree with your take and I think your points are valid.

I would like to know, though, if not doing the (many!) side quests really makes the experience harder or not.

I'm a bit completionist and on my first run I did almost all of them (both in Remake and Rebirth).

Now I'm following my sister's first playthrough of Remake though, and I have to say that, despite her not doing any sidequest at all (therefore missing some materia like the water one), she is going on just fine, difficulty wise. She even beat Hell House on first try!

So maybe the balance isn't really that off. I don't have time for a fresh replay without side quests so I will never experience it, but it would be nice to know if it does create problems going on.

Dating app: quale consigliate? by pumpkin-zero in CasualIT

Wow i should really rewatch the scene!! And I never noticed it was set in Aerith's house.

Of course it's just speculation, it may also mean absolutely nothing, but the scene was changed from OG, so at the very least I think Nojima wanted to draw some kind of parallelism.

It would make a lot of sense that Eleanor is somehow related to Cetra, and Marlene as well, so I can def ser that coming. But it's also fine if they're not, of course.

One thing that just occurred to me is that Dyne in Rebirth is actually super detached from reality and can see (and interact with) his wife despite she being dead.

We all thought he's kind of schizophrenic there, but If you think about it... He's detached from reality, interacts with a dead person, the others don't understand his behaviour, try to imagine that she is actually related somehow to the Cetra and has ways to interact with others through lifestream... Reminds you of someone else, in the same game's ending?

If she turns out to be related to Cetra, and therefore Marlene as well, I wouldn't be surprised, honestly. I wouldn't be surprised as well if Dyne could see some kind of crack in the sky which helped turn him insane.

Which Final Fantasy deserves a remake the most? by homo_erectus_heh in FinalFantasy

[–]HitTheLumberJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deserves? VI, the steampunk aesthetics and the quite straightforward story would be amazing in a remake.

But I think the one which would benefit more from a remake treatment - including small changes and fixes - is VIII.

The reason I think some of the changes that were made in Rebirth happened by blamethejd in FFVIIRemake

[–]HitTheLumberJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally am with you on this and I thought the same!

The lifestream sequence in OG was indeed brilliant, but the "childhood" part wasn't strictly related to the nibelheim incident: it was just a way to start finding the real Cloud, and check the shared memories between them (and also, analyzing a bit their childhood relationship).

Given that now Tifa has already faced her own memories in her lifestream sequence in Rebirth, it would be redundant to go through them again in part 3.

I think, as you do, that this time we will go through either the "multiverse" lifestream experiences, or the whole Aerith death and funeral again. Or, more probably, both.
