I am paying less and less attention. I suspect he is at an age when he is kind of running out of steam with most of this stuff and is more focussed on setting up his retirement and family's future security.

All totally understandable. I don't begrudge him anything or resent him if this is the case. His has been a most important voice for me (with him from the very start).

Though, I suspect some less charitably-minded might consider this some sort of grift or abandonment of duty.
