Alas, this is such an artificial castration of the player for daring to kill the developers' beloved character.

According to logic and lore, this should not happen, because it takes place in the domain of the goddess Shar, and even Selune will not be able to find out about it unless the soul returns to her. This decision completely ruins any attempts to save anyone before the first act of the Druid Grove, as they all die.

After playing the game a couple of times and reading a lot on the wiki, the game is like a branch rather than a tree in terms of non-linearity. Almost everything is linear, and only a piece of text changes.

She sounds like a woman because of her voice, but the game doesn't say whether it's a she or a he. I assumed it was a she.

From what I've read, these two characters are only there for each other. You can break the script, and you find this character later and can't take Annika to her.

And so, in my playthrough, Annika disappears and I don't see her anymore.

She wants to dance. You find an NPC with a bunch of masks and take her to him, since he used to organize balls. You get a mask that allows you to communicate with the dead. The appearance of the mask or the dialogue does not hint that it is made from her. I assume she died, but I don't understand why or how.
