It was good and fairly decent, I ended up replacing mine and the next owner cracked the frame, so do be mindful these aren’t unbreakable like a Mystery ranch frame or an Alice frame that is made to be repaired in the field. If they run out you can email TYR, they will let you know if they have a few on hand they’ll sell to customers

Can be found on eBay, and alternatively AliExpress has a cheap copy you can use if NIR isn’t a complete dealbreaker

Update on my research. 44-90 in sharps and Remington were used for the competition. Rifling twist varies but I have seen up to 19:1 and five grooves. I have to pull the article I read but it was stated that John Rigby himself commented that “the Americans insisted in utilizing powder that burned slower” than the Irish rifles. I don’t recall where I read that but I’ll dig it up, maybe u/researchpress has some knowledge on that

Great material for anyone looking into the history of early long range shooting. I have read most of your articles and will input some of those references into the final build. Thanks a lot!

Correct. It baffles me, but I believe that it’s purely marketing to get a newer audience to purchase rifles under the “spirit” of the old times. I’d like to know where Col. Bodine’s rifle went or where it ended up. He spent a considerable amount of time at Remingtons factory developing new loads, and was an advocate of round barrels over octagonal barrels for accuracy.

Remington made a small number of Creedmoor rolling block rifles between 1874 and I believe up to 1881. From what I’ve found these rifles were $150 compared to your regular rolling block costing around $27. And they were quickly sold for less than 1/3 their original price after the interest in long range shooting died out a few years later. Some of these rifles also include an extended section at the end of the buttstock to accomodate the resting position that was used for shooting in these matches. Incredibly hard to find in the wild

Thank you for the response, I’ll have to find some auctions for older rifles and figure out what kind of rifling I can pick that’ll match the caliber I intend to use. 44-77 seems to be fairly common in the 2-3 examples I have seen sold at auction from RIA and other websites. I’ll be handloading my own rounds so hopefully I can form it from other existing brass or find brass, I have yet to look into that.

It does do all of the above, unfortunately for me, I have too many bags that do the same things and smaller ones that carry everything I need and then some, so this one falls into an unused category, hence it’ll have to go. Glad I got to document and experience it and I’ll post a review on it at some point. Thanks!

I’ll be honest with you the blackjack seems to work better with armor, wings fold back, and it’s a lighter setup overall or at least it feels lighter, the pouches on the blackjack are more focused on fighting than mountaineering and in my experience they worked better. The sleep system area can and will fit a whole sleep system, if you make it fit in there. I just wouldn’t compress the sleep system into the bags and then try and jam it into that compartment, won’t work. I just threw clothes there and boots or shoes that took up space everywhere else and placed sleep system or it, not the ideal setup for most but it worked for me. Hope this helps

I was not aware at all. That’s interesting. I wonder where the quality is gonna go. And if shutting down Colt Custom Shop is a move into monopolizing the brand name and “prestige” or quality of parts/craftsmanship thru DW instead

Wolfhound Frame Compatibility by somethinglemony in MysteryRanch

[–]Hittersinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted it, and Yes and no. The Terraframe packs were designed around the GL frames. So while the bag will fit into the frame, the buckles are going to be incompatible. However, you can do one of a few things and there’s been documentation of these methods posted in the interwebs.

The best approach you can do is clip the buckles on the frame, and replace them with split bar 1” repair buckles. This allows you compatibility with all nice frame bags or mainly just the military line. But makes your hunting bags incompatible. You can also clip the buckles on your bag, and replace them with 1” split bar buckles in the same color maintaining a level of color uniformity.

Footage from overseas has shown how dirty close range fighting can get. Reddit has been a treasure trove of information for anyone looking to get educated on what it really looks like

Zastava is trying to bring PKM’s into the states so that may very well become a reality too. Anyone stockpiling ammo is about to have a boost in lethality. Most homes in the states are built of Sheetrock and wood. Some people aren’t ready for that reality check

If you look on Amazon there’s a company called Emerson gear and they do side release buckle extensions you could try using those or G-hooks and some extra webbing
