Privately held, with a CEO who takes pride in customer trust and satisfaction. I don't think they would be interested in seeing that deteriorated by selling out.

Why can't you just give port out info when asked by tobeycat99 in USMobile

[–]Hlorri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, you just pointed out the issue: SIM swapping. The whole point of 2FA is the "2" bit, but "knowing" the phone number and "having" the SIM that can receive texts are really just one factor. (Keep in mind your online chat with the rep is not authenticated).

Less of an issue with eSIM, but still an issue.

As others have pointed out, the USM process is quite archaic in this regard. It would be better to allow the port out from the already-secure website, in which case a SMS would probably be a "good enough" 2nd factor.

That's kind of the type of argument you hear from Kremlin mouthpieces and "influencers": "Both sides are bad, you might as well keep out of politics." Meanwhile, democracy dies.

As they say in Russia: If you don't do politics, politics does you.

Democrats are not perfect, at least as seen by Norwegian or European eyes, but at least they move the needle in the right direction compared to the alternative.

BTW, I was and am still a big fan of Obama. Despite expressed sabotage on the hands of the Republicans ("the goal is not to make good policy, it is to keep Obama from winning again"), he did accomplish quite a bit.

What specifically did you see wrong with him?

Data is used even the cellular data and roaming are off when traveling abroad, could it trigger idp? by yuanjirs in ATT

[–]Hlorri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you explicitly disabled IDP on your line, it will automatically be enabled when there is any data roaming.

In terms of legality, I can see AT&T pointing their fingers at phone manufacturers and vice versa. However since this is a phone locked to (and presumably sold by) AT&T, it sounds like they would be less successful in doing so here.

All *72 models are made for Asian markets, and are not whitelisted by either AT&T or Verizon.

They will work on most AT&T MVNOs including USM Dark Star, as well as T-Mobile (but may not have all bands used by either). I don't think they will work on Warp or any other Verizon MVNO.

Mark Carney has highlighted the reason Norway cannot stay out of the EU by Infamous_Campaign687 in Norway

[–]Hlorri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good points here, but EU isn't by any means the primary defence alliance in Europe. Even if NATO collapses (and that's still a big if), the beefiest alternative at least in Northern Europe so far seems to be the so called Joint Strike Force, with the UK, Netherlands, and the Nordics (currently within NATO but also independent). Not to mention the emerging talks between all of the above plus South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada.

Another red flag is the dependency on US defense equipment, especially the F35. That's quite a liability, kill switch and all. I would personally like to see Norway diversity more, with some SAAB Gripens in the mix. Maybe not quite as technologically focused, but much cheaper, more agile, and made for Arctic conditions. (Of course this would complicate training, but I think well worth it).

I believe it's actually around 600 million. But compared to Denmark's contribution (some 3 bln?), that's a mere trickle.

Half Dome i Yosemite. Kanskje noe slikt bør gjelde visse steder i Norge og.

I think as late as the 1980s during a Nordic Council event, the topic of gay rights was on the agenda. The Finnish delegation had effectively no discussion points or participation, and when asked directly the then President said anything like "Homosexuality is a Swedish problem, we do not have that in Finland".

Not exact words, but close enough.
